I think we need a thread that talks about when the game was decided, i.e the critical moment.

I think that moment was when steve novak was subbed into the game, his lack of defense really hurt us especaily after we took the lead. Unfortunately, in the playoffs, the intensity trebles, and teams do not leave shooters open for long, which is one of the few things Novak relies on to get his shot off. Jazz hustles more than any other team, which really limits what Novak can do on the offense. If he is ineffective on the offense, and giving up points on the defense, he is no use to us.

Note, that Novak only had one 3pt shot attempt. If he was shooting and missing, at least we know that sooner or later the law of averages will pan out, unfortunately, he couldnt even get a shot up.

Basically, we gave up too much momentum during that stretch and lost the game.

Your thoughts? lets keep it clean!

Utah attacked Novak's weakness on defense every time they had the ball.

Deke should have stayed in after that huge block. A wtf substitution with Hayes coming in.

I agree that Novak was a definite liability, but the key to this game was the inability to finish. They either settled for long jumpers that didn't go in (cough Bobby Jackson cough cough) or took it strong to the rack without putting the ball in the cylinder.

    And, of course, free throws.

adelman is still trying to figure out what rotations are best, not good when you are playing a great team like utah. we dont have time for experimentation.

The turning point of the game was the opening tip. After that, we had no chance.

yeah novak came in late in tha third and that when they went on their run. i was surprised to see him still in there at tha start of tha forth.

Another critical point tho, was when Mutumbo wen tout in tha third when he got tha block and then tha sub came and he tried to tell Adelman to let him stay in.

Seriously,we too small. We need to put in Woods for minutes and not jsut garbage minutes,

That was clearly the momentum killer. Specially when Korver made the two threes.

A fickle headed desicion by Adelman. Novak did play good against the Jazz in the regular season, but that just makes him more of a target in Sloan's bully-o-matic playoff defense.

Agreed -- Novak lost Korver twice and let him shoot two open threes, then was WAY off on a wide open three pointer of his own. That, combined with all the other times he was dominated by kirilenko, resulted 13-15 points right there.

He, Landry and BJacks in the second half played awful defense.

The critical moment was when Booby Jackson was 2-8 from the field, decided that he was on fire, and then proceeded to heat check for an even worse 1-7 from the field. The guy is flat out terrible. Too old, too slow, and too selfish.

Heres a better "moment" to describe why the Rockets lost...

    Aaron Brooks 1-7

    Bobby Jackson 3-15

Blame the great white hope all you want... but he wasn't the MAIN reason why the team sucked.

Personally, I think Adelman tried too much combinations when it wasnt necessary.

I can see why he did it, we are pretty depleted with all the injuries, but adelman forgot that Jazz is one of the most discplined teams in the league. Regardless of players you put in, they are always goign to play thier style of game. Unfortunately, we couldnt match thier intensity and we couldnt match their "big shots".

Mind you, I dont understand why people keep saying tmac can get to the rim whenever he wants. Compared to the Tmac of the Magic, getting to the rim is so much harder for him now days.

He cant even get past someone who is not even quick. everyone else needs to step it up

Critical moment is when Yao walked onto the court, in a suit.

BJ and Novak killed our game. ESP Jackson wow he must have cost us at least 6 points. Not including his 12 bricked shots.

There was no critical moment, they whipped us pretty much the entire game.

I did not say he was the reason we lost, I said that was a pivotal point in the game where we needed to gain momentum.

The great white hope maybe the greatwhite nightmare in this playoff if adelman keep putting him into the game when its not necesssary
