OK, I just received my Playstation 3 that I purchased from emoreland in this thread.

I have plugged up the power cord and the A/V cord to the PS3 and their outlets on the TV and the wall. I have powered it on and the lights do power on and the console revs up. The problem is no picture or sound is coming out of the television. I believe the system works and I don't believe I was ripped off so I am afraid the television that I have doesn't support the PS3. The television I am trying to connect it to is located HERE.

So is my problem my television? If so, I guess I will just have to put up the system until I get my new one in a month or two. If it is not the television, what else could be the problem?

Do you have the television switched to the LINE channel?

I wouldn't think its the TV: My buddy had his PS3 hooked up to a rather ancient TV (10 years old or so) using RCAs or whatever. It worked fine, though obviously didn't take advantage of the PS3s capabilities.

That's all I have to offer.

Is it an HDTV, or no?

If it isn't, I bet this is the problem:

The system is looking for an HDMI connection, not a standard component or composite connection.

So, make sure it's all hooked up, and power it off. Turn it on so the red LED shows. Then hold down the power button for about five seconds, until it beeps at you a couple times. This will reset it from HDMI input to component/composite input.

Yes, I have the television switched to the output channel where the PS3 is connected. I have unplugged and plugged everything back up. I pulled out the A/V connections ones at a time and when I did the video I got a lot of buzzing and the screen shook slightly.

I am thinking my TV doesn't support the PS3's output but wouldn't I still get some audio?

You were correct, this was the problem. Why isn't this listed in the manual under Troubleshooting where it says "No Video" or "No Audio"?

...because starting a thread on ClutchFans is more fun? :D

Now, go buy NBA 2K8, Burnout Paradise, Rainbow Six: Vegas 2, Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction, and Uncharted: Drake's Fortune immediately. Chop chop.

BWAHAHAHA! LOL! Correct! My television sucks compared to many of the posters on here.

Really, that is why I started the other thread a couple days ago. I am planning to upgrade in a month or two.

Dude....I just hope you realize that you're going to want....no, NEED....to play anything you've already played on your crap TV AGAIN on your new TV.

PS3 is just sick. A hundred times more so on HDTV.

I'll be playing that soon, hopefully. It came with the 360 I just bought... which I can't quite use yet, because the dude forgot to send the power cord and AV cables, lol.

As good as everyone says COD4 is, I strongly suspect Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 will remain my favorite shooter. Well, that and GRAW2. God bless the Tom Clancy games.

I admit that sometimes it's so realistic it seems like work. That might be the turn-off for you. Where I REALLY love it is when I can get a big group of people (at least 4) together to do co-op campaign, with no respawns. That's about as much fun as I've ever had with any videogame, ever.

It's kinda like the Gran Turismo series: yeah, it's awesome and all, but it's *too* realistic for me. It feels like work. I'd rather play Burnout.
