link Well we were right, the next Mortal Kombat title will indeed feature DC comics characters. Officially titled Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe the game was confirmed at Midway's Las Vegas event, and included a single piece of teaser art featuring a certain dark winter's knight and a more traditional MK frozen fighter. Not much is known at this time, but now that it's officially official, let the nerdy character speculation begin! P.S. - I did a search for 'mortal kombat', DC, Vs, and MK, and came up with nothing. Still, I won't be shocked if this is a repost. P.P.S. - Credit to Ron from the G for sending me this article. -J
This game has the chance to bring MK back to glory if they do it right, but it also has the possiblity of being very very bad. Here's hoping they do it right.
http://digg.com/gaming_news/Rumor_Mortal_Kombat_vs_DC_Comics No fatalities? BORRRRIINNNG!!! I really wanted to see Batman rip Wonder Woman's arms off and beat her to death with them.
no fatalities? how lame is that? no point of even making the game I am sure DC didnt want their characters to be associated with that sort of death and carnage. that would have been sweet though. meh i havent played a coin-op arcade game in years.
Might be amusing, but taming the MK attacks is questionable at best. It's also silly in that they have to weaken up Superman considerably. Hi, I'm invulnerable, have laser beams, freezing breath with the force of a hurricane wind, the speed and flight of a jet fighter, and the strength to rip a bank vault open like it was cardboard. But a ninja could totally take me out if he threw razor blades at me or something. How hilarious would it be if this was hardcore MK. A Batman vs Scorpion duel could open with Scorpion holding out Robin's head to taunt beforehand. Marvel vs Capcom was cool. Evan
Warner Bros would never allow their flagship characters get dismembered like that, what a stupid concept.
I guess I'm in the minority here, but I could care less about fatalities, animalities, babyalities or any other -alaties. I liked the original MK and MK2 for the gameplay, which was actually good. With MK3 it started going downhill with the hundred-hit combos.
Gamesrader has the first trailer for the game: http://www.gamesradar.com/xbox360/x...r/a-200804189373994062/g-20060321132945404017 <object width="325" height="300"> <param name="movie" value="http://www.gamesradar.com/video/ext/v-20080417145329734070"></param> <param name="wmode" value="window"></param> <param name="allowFullScreen" value="false"></param> <embed src="http://www.gamesradar.com/video/ext/v-20080417145329734070" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="window" allowFullScreen="false" width="325" height="300"></embed> </object>
Okay, the game is totally derivative of another game that I didn't like in the first place (MvC), but I loved MK and that looks awesome.
Never. EA has the rights to the Marvel license now. Capcom can't even re-release Marvel based games anymore. Thats why you have to pay $90 bucks at eBay or Gamestop to get MvC2. EA is also making a serious run (almost certain) to acquire the company that produces NBA 2K. Meaning, no more 2K either. They already have the NFL. EA killed all the fun.
Man that preview looks pretty nice. When they were fighting while falling in the air I kind of got wood. Hope this game doesn't disappoint.
I actually wasn't that impressed with the video. Seems like they just took the recent crappy iterations of MK and added in Batman. Granted, the idea itself provides for some interesting situations I suppose (not necessarily good, just interesting), but I can't say I really expect much from the game. It was just a teaser though, so there's plenty of time for Midway to change my mind.
