I don't know if or when the Rockets organization will make the "Red 'n Rowdy" thing official again like they did during last year's playoffs. But, let's keep the tradition alive and make all of Toyota Center RED.
I will be at game 2 and of course I will be wearing RED! we need to hand a red t-shirt to EVERY fan who walks in
Incidentally, I heard the same thing when I was a kid but it's false. Probably stemmed from the fact that your vein looks blue through the skin.
Not really It is red... when oxygenated it stays red... it turns "blue" or darker in appearance when the oxygen is depleted and replaced with carbon dioxide... Remember "Arteries Away" and "Veins Return".... Arteries carry fresh, oxygenated, red blood away from the cardio-pulmonary (heart and lungs) to the capillaries at the cellular lever. While the blood gives (carries) the oxygen to the cells, it swaps it out for the carbon dioxide (CO2) and the returns the now, oxygen depleted, blue blood back to the heart and lungs... and the cycle repeats so long as your heart beats... You can see (in some people) the "blue" blood inside arteries, which are transparent enough to see the difference, through translucent areas of skin in the inner elbow area, or in the palm of a hand near the wrist. So the term "blue blood" is not entirely wrong. It's just that when blood is in it's healthy state it is brighter red. Red blood cells get the name from actually carrying the oxygen, which turns them red, by way of hemoglobin. But... anyone you cut, bleeds bright red... Unless you are in a gas chamber filled with CO2 at the time, it will be much darker, more like a crimson... and if so, you'll pass out and perhaps die anyway. Here's link on it... http://www.globalclassroom.org/blublud.html
blood flowing thru veins are blue, arteries are red. WHY? Because oxygenated blood is red. Deoxygenated blood is blue. When you have a cut, you introduce blood to what? . . . . Bueller? That's right . . . oxygen. Of course it turns . . . red.
If the Warriors can hand out Yellow T-Shirts to every fan, then with those outrageous ticket prices the Rockets are charging they can have some cheap Red T-Shirts printed up for all the fans. They can also hand out Red Placards with something like umm I don't know "We Believe" or "Go Rockets" in White.
How so? It is all red. Some is bright red (oxygenated), and some is "blue" red, more of a crimson. It only appears blue in hue through our skin. I'm sorry if I made it unclear.
No biggie... It's more a way to think of it than anything. Of course it still appears blue to the naked eye. You were an EMT?
I just got an email today stating that the first 15,000 fans at (at least) the first two home games will be receiving free "It's Playoff Time" t-shirts. I'll be there early for mine at each game!
lol@ how a thread on red clothing turned into a thread on gang affiliation, then into a thread on the color of blood itself.
Anyone know if they are selling Rockets Apparel at Macys at this moment?? I went in like August and got a lot of Rockets stuff, then I went back to Macys during the streak and they weren't selling any, do they have now???
