The difference right now is that Scola is getting calls that Yao never gets. Not trying to downplay what Scola is doing. He has been amazing and IS my favorite current Rocket, but he has been getting a lot of free throws of the past few weeks.
Yes because a rookie from argentina (a place with no commercial interest for the nba) is getting more respect than a multiple times all star Yao ming from CHINA. Get over this please.
Uh Scola is not getting any calls??? i dont know what youre talking about, he rarely shoots free throws.
Well - maybe not 20-10 BUT Since the All-Star break he's average 13.6 and 8.4 in 31.4 mpg. That's at 52% from the field and 72% from the field. Pretty well every month of the season his numbers have all increased except for his TOs - which got stuck at around 1.4 per game (that's a good thing). He's a GENUINE option around the rim for this team and the GOOD NEWS is when you look at his numbers against the Jazz 3 games 15.7ppg and 9.3rpg (and 1.3 turnovers) That includes 27 free throw attempts (he made 18) in those 3 games! Nervous about trying to win a game in Utah (got a bad feeling they'll squeak one in Houston) but at least confident that Scola can give us something down low in this series!
I'll say the key for Rockets' playoff success is to make more plays for Scolar. Scolar is a rookie by technicality. He is a tested veteran who can lead in high profile games and win. Llet T-Mac be a pure distributor, shoot only when he is open or driving, . With Scolar as our No. 1 offensive choice, it will throw Jazz off. SCOLAR FOR PLAYOFF MVP AND ROCKET FOR CHAMPIONSHIP!
Sure, I know it's unlikely, but he did it the last two games of the season and has been on a role rebounding, getting ten or more in 4 of the last 5 games. I figure that Scola's such a good scorer that if he's grabbing as many boards as he is, considering the minutes Luis has been playing (usually around 30), it's not out of the question. 16.6 points and 10.6 boards over the last 5 games of the season. Pretty impressive!
I believe Yao played all games in his first season too but now... So don't get too high, don't get too low, as what RA said
LOL why would anyone get a crazy ideal like that? Seriously, though, Scola gets alot of credit for his hustle (which he definitely does) but not nearly the credit for his skill. He is one of the most skill post players in the game even though he lacks alot of the size, strength, and atheleticism. I love watching skilled players and i love watching them school the guys who are mostly using their atheleticism and size to bully opponents (i.e. Scola on Amare).
