We are all different, but differences that you can't control shouldn't be a reason for exclusion or hatred. It's when people who all share a difference gang up on another group that all share a difference. If everyone can celebrate his/her own individuality, that's great and I'm all for it. But as far as using differences against someone else, I'm not for it. You are unique, just like everyone else!
LOL Christ... Bus Driver: Mr King Jr., why do you fixate on your race? You're just an American like everyone else. Oh no you can't sit here, back of the bus Mr King, back of the bus.
My ancestors being apparent xenophiles, I am a true mutt... I have at least 9 confirmed ancestrol races... Irish English French Spanish Russian Danish Algonquin Indian Scottish German and there is some speculation about northern Italian... So you've just got to be wondering what the &^%*%# I look like...
Thank God you wrote this. I was gonna be ashamed to be apart of this board if I read through 44 posts and not one person went the 50 yard dash/marathon route to answering the queston. Good job A-Train. And princess got in the best poster tournament? And white, white, with a little white mixed in.
I would guess you look pretty much western European, seeing as how 80%+ of the countries listed were from that area.
more monoculturalism? notice most of those have AMERICAN behind them I think it is assine and insulting to think that The only way Americans can get along is to be the same that we are not BIG enough to acknowledge and enjoy the differences among us yet still come together. Like Booker T Washington say . .. as seperate as the fingers coming to gether to make a FIST!! [ok so i improvised a little.] Rocket River
This made me scratch my head. . . . . . I dunno how to take it should I 1. thank you for looking out for us simpletons who are not as enlightened as you and could not understand this simple question or 2. be insulted that you think some of us are simpletons. the funny thing is Princess. . you probably have no idea how arrogant that statement above could be perceived. You spent 4~5 post convoluting a simple question. . . making it more confusing than necessary. THEN go on to say . . IT WAS NOT FOR ME . . BUT THE SIMPLETONS among us. incredible. Rocket River
Yes, that's exactly what I did. I called you simpletons. I was trying to point out that everyone on this board thinks racism is the most terrible thing on the face of the planet (and it is really bad and leads to other terrible things, like ignorance and genocide, in the worst form. I really didn't understand you weren't trying to confuse ethnicity with race (which I think there's a difference between). Can someone not be a black European American? I'm not saying that that person would not be smart enought to know what to check, I just think a lot of options were left off. IMO, if you wanted to know people's race, then do a poll on that. If you want to know where they're from, do another one on that. But by putting it all together, I think it makes more division. That's why I brought it up. But it doesn't matter. You'll find a way that I'm wrong and terrible here too, so it doesn't matter. My roommate is white and American, but not European American. She was born in Hondurus and has lived in Japan, several parts of Africa, various islands and America. She agrees with me. There's a difference. I don't know that everyone wants to be an "other." And if you do, then more power to you, really. It doesn't matter what I say about race anymore. You've all decided that anything I say or think is wrong, so I'm done talking about it.
Obviously, we can't enjoy the differences among us because every time someone says something about a minority, they get accused of racism. Denying differences is one thing (which I don't think we should do). Simply acknowledging them is not bad at all. I just don't think we're (meaning humans in general) not mature enough to do it.
