I wouldn't trade T-Mac for Davis. T-Mac is much better, despite all his issues.

Great logic. We're piling on a guy who is having the "worst season of his career" as he just led an inferior team to a better record than a guy who is "doing great."

Umm, ok....what's your point? I doubt he could either. Last I checked we are the Houston Rockets and we thrive off of T-Mac's passing. I really don't care who would be better for the Warriors.

Here's the funny part. Their big men are so bad that they can be thrown into discussion with our pg's for incompetency, by your admission. Yet, we are playing a pair of rookies avging a shade under double digits and 50 year old Mutombo. So while "they're the best team outside of PF/C in the NBA" what exactly do we have...outside of T-Mac? You're really just tearing down your own argument and it's silly.

This makes for nice icing on the cake.

Back in the Francis era, people were saying that Davis and Francis were very similar players, on similar talent level. Back in those days, people wouldn't trade Francis for Davis mainly because Davis got injured for long stretches while Francis seemed to be a lot more durable.

Now, Francis's game and health have been gone. People are saying we should trade McGrady (whom we acquired by trading Francis) for Davis. Irony.

There's little doubt in my mind that outside of an absolute miracle, we are going to get bounced again in the first round this year, and that is absolutely fine by me. We're not that good and therein lies the problem. Some of you are easily disappointed because you set up these unrealistic expectations based on this ridiculous ideal of what the team is, and the streak only made matters worse in that regard. This team is severely undermanned. Losing a playoff series without your best player to what looks like a very dangerous Utah Jazz team does not constitute reason to hit the panic button. Especially with Yao coming back, with a GM who seems competent enough to make some more upgrades, and with the team in position to pick up a major peice via trade through expiring contracts.

You don't make this trade because you lost in the first round again. That's just absurd. You make this trade if you decide the whole project failed and you need to blow the whole thing up. I'm not too high on volatile point guards so I would personally pass. He doesn't seem like he would mesh well with Yao.

I am not too optimistic regarding our chances without Yao, but it is never fine by me if we get bounced.

I always dreamed about B.Diddy opting out and us using our expirings and our first rounder to nab him. Then I woke up.......

Fair enough and I agree with some very unrealistic expectations, even with HCA, I think we will not be favored.

The team is still flawed, especially without Yao, but we are getting closer.

The bigger question you brought up may, in fact, need to be addressed this offseason, do you break up Tmac and Yao.....as Magic Johnson and others have suggested. I am on the fence about this one, but for the right type of players I would be interested.....

Something like a Jamison type of player......not him per se, but a player of his caliber.....with maybe a pick or another NBA player at a point of weakness for us.

As for Baron Davis, the word on the street is that he had a big birthday party the night before and may have been hungover......ouch.

With all due respect, and I know you prefaced with "not him per se", but you've been drooling over him for some time now oddly, can you please explain to me your fascination with Jamison? He's on the wrong side of 30 now, has never been a lock down defender or weak side shot blocker, and hell, not even in his best days was he a post anchor - a guy you could just throw the ball down into and get a double team. In the West, he's not elite or even All-Star, he'd be a marginal upgrade at the position for us but really gets us nowhere given the production we are getting for Scola and Landry at their cost. Some of you are really underestimating T-Mac's passing - our offense is almost built around it. Antawn Jamison? Seriously?

If I were to trade T-Mac, it would be only for a package of young players if I decided to completely rebuild. Something like Josh Smith and Marvin Williams. Otherwise, it's just a waste of time.

You and 28 other teams in the league.

Someone mentioned trading McGrady for Rudy Gay - my head is about to explode just thinking about that! :p

man i agree with you 100%. some people are just wayy too overconfident and are overvaluing this team. when it comes down to it we a brokeback tmac + bunch of rookies.

if it wasnt for the miraculous streak, we would be #9 right now fighting for a spot.

before we blow up this whole tmac/yao thing, why dont we freaking get a 3rd consistent scorer first? the whole 1-2 punch thing aint working out too good these days. balanced scoring is. i dont know why people keep blaming tmac...do yall want him to score all 95pts??

and to everyone who wants baron davis..seriously?!?? this is like his healthiest season yet..! talk about injury prone.

    End this charade...

T-Mac is in the playoffs this season... He basically led his team there after Yao went down.

Davis is going home in a day. No playoffs... and he beat a whimpy Dallas team last year. So?

    You guys amaze me.

Give Tracy and Yao one full season please... shoot, give Tracy this first round before you bail on him.

    Judases.

Man, Baron Davis, Tracy McGrady, and Yao Ming all on the same team? That would be amazing. We'd be the injury all-stars!

So how many games do you think they'd play (combined) in 2009? 100? 150? That would be awesome!

you really think if tmac was on the warriors they would not make the playoffs? some supposedly rocket fans (or tmac haters) baffle me.

This year Baron score more points, has a better fg% and 3 pt %, has more assists, steals, but he does avgs .5 a rebound less. I also love the mythical bb IQ how exactly do we measure it? I am not saying I would trade Tmac for baron, but its not like Baron is not good. Baron has taken his team to the second round as a heavy underdog whereas Tmac has blown three leads to get to the 2nd round.

Baron wouldn't have this current Rockets team in the same position Tmac has them in right now.
