all this talk about how addicting and life destroying this game is makes me want to go play it just to say it doesn't take over my life lol
An old friend of mine is way too into WoW and other games. He still works and everything, and it's other games and not just WoW, but he and the other guys who play these things are always talking about it. For me, since I have neither the time nor inclination to get into it, it's like they're speaking another language. Wake up, real life is all around you and you're stuck in some electronic fantasy world. I told him "Well, however you want to spend your life" and I don't think he liked that too much. It's sad because often there are real people who do care about you and want to keep up friendships, but your life is too centered around these games and then you don't even want to think about anything else. And this is even for the more normal gamers... sounds like y'all know a bunch of extreme ones.
Good question - everyone's asking that! Not sure, maybe because I had to change my official email address since my school moved our email. Looking into it over in the other forum... Actually looks like it's already changed back, right now. If so, thanks guys - that was quick!
well an update to the this story. I went last night at around 11:30 and i didn't see him play and was on the 3rd floor (mostly b/c his girlfriend was there). I woke up like around 3:30 a.m last night to use the bathroom and I opened my door to peek upstairs to see if he was playing. Let's just say the lights were on and heard some bunch of mouse clicks... I haven't confronted him yet about his job or the WoW stuff yet...but if this goes on for another week...something's up
hmmm i thought i posted it but anyways... yea the front desk lady told me to call his cell phone and asked me if i wanted to leave a msg as well...
Did you say you were a friend/family member looking for him, or did you act like a business contact? If you acted like a business contact and that's what she told you, I'd take it as he's on vacation.... A long one... Maybe he's taking an extended leave of absence. Cuz if someone's not working there anymore, they wouldn't say that kind of stuff, they'd say let me put you in touch with someone else who can help you... At least, that's my logic behind it.
Another reason not to play video games... At least with sports, you get tired after a couple of hours.
i'm not sure what my brother plays but i think he may be a bit addicted to this stuff too. clicking and talking away on the computer at all hours of the day and esp the night til 4 or 5 AM regularly. how do you help someone that doesn't want to be helped??
They have to be the ones that realize they have a problem and need help. Once they have done that, then you can intervene.
Better than WoW without a girlfriend. Who's gonna cook and clean? Who's gonna farm yer gold when yer in the shower? Yeah. I thought so.
Well, at least he's still living in the house and hasn't been evicted yet...I will say that he's probably been severed or "let go", or "down sized"...In other words, paid to leave...Once that happens, you don't really do much for a while...
WoW isnt that bad. Just think about it, all the WoWaddicts would just be heroin addicts if WoW didnt exist. And heroin is a lot more costly and detrimental to your mental AND physical health. (slight sarcasm btw)
How do you know your brother needs help or more importantly wants help? Just because a lifestyle doesn't make sense to you, doesn't mean a lifestyle doesn't make sense.
