I really doubt any average guy out there could beat an WNBA player. I think the closest thing you can compare professional women's athletics to is around Division II-III Men's college athletics.

Why? My answer, for example, was very conditional. IF I'm in good shape, and IF I can overpower her, I stand a chance. Those are pretty big IFs. If she's 7'2" or incredibly fast or a perfect outside shooter, I don't stand a chance.

Getting technical about it, the actual game of 21's lessened structure might work against a girl who's not used to it. You can reel off several points in a row quick using trick bounces off free throws, getting to the spots before she does, just run circles around her. She'd win on technicality that I didnt get "exactly" 21, depending on the rules...

1 on 1 make it-take it, if she gets hot and your not she can beat you. Had a difficult time of it against a girl one time cuz I was just flat that day, and she figured out I couldnt dribble well or go left and kept tipping the ball away (i never call fouls ;) )

Also WNBA players, unless they make their own attempts to play against guys, they dont play against the type of athletic defenders with good timing on their jumps and on-the-ball instincts. Which I dont have but still...An all defense high school player would be automatic Ron Artest wreaking havoc against WNBA competition.

Goes without saying that some couch potato or some average guy who doesnt play sports thats just "male" could get whooped handily by a WNBA player. And that would be most the guys on this board

Now that I think back..I played a girl that was a McDonalds All-American too. She's on Stanford's team right now, a bench player. But she's like 6'5" and I was like 5'"9 back then, so she blocked me a few times. But it wasn't a 1v1 it was like 5v5.

candice parker would embarras me. I'm 6'5 so I think I would beat any girl 6.2 or shorter. But no doubt they could all shoot better then me...i'm sure.

As long as they aren't significantly taller than me (let's say 6'5" and up) then yes, I feel very confident about beating them in a game of 21.

I used to play against a girl who was on the Baylor basketball team, she was the best girl I've ever played against. Her first step was quick as hell and her jumper was sick. I posted her up all day and did my damage around the basket. I swatted many a shot on the perimeter as well.

As for the WNBA players, my best friend was on a team of guys who used to scrimmage the Comets during the preseason. He didnt play college basketball but he said they used to KILL the girls in practice. He said there good but their not gonna beat a group of guys with decent athletic ability. Their is always gona be a few exceptions though.

    Take on? Sure.

    Score against? Yes.

    Win against? Nope.

Agree with this as well... In college there would be girls from the woman's team who couldn't sniff the WNBA that would run with the guys at the Rec center and they would tear it up against good competition.

The big girls would post you up and back you down and the smaller girls all have handles and a jumper that's pretty much dead on.

I refuse to believe that there is a woman who could back me down in the paint....there maybe be one or two somewhere in the world but in general, not a chance.

This is the reason why the WNBA is not so popular. Because an average guy thinks he can compete in the game and watch the same thing across the street.

Personally, I don't know. But again, if street rules apply and I'm not overmatched.

Went to work out at the gym the other day and Cheryl Swoops was playing ball with all the regulars that play all the time at 24 Hour fitness. Didn't stay around long enough to see how she faired.

More like a good high school team. I think most of the top high school teams in Houston could probably rip the WNBA champs.

    I VERY highly doubt that.

But here's a much better question:
All you guys thinking you've got a darn good chance at winning, do you think you could really play such a physical game of ball with a woman? After years of conditioning to be physically gentle with girls, wouldn't you automatically hold back?

I know I'd get made fun of to all hell if I was in good shape and lost to a woman. But I know I'd get just as much if I threw her to the ground on a drive to the basket.

No it is not. Interior strength alone at the D-1 level would destroy the WNBA.....
