it's got nothing to do with Yao being out. T-Mac was shooting poorly even with Yao. The past two years T-Mac's shot became noticeably worse. His first year as a rocket he could make open 3's like they were layups. Now he cant even make an open 18 footer, and don't even get me started on his free throws. T-Mac's shot is long gone and wont be coming back.

roffle: I will be the first to agree that TMac has not shot the ball as well this season, but he still gets hot when we need it in the second half all of the time.

He seems much streakier this season, but he has stepped up many times

Dumbasses attack in groups. These wild creatures are vicious and know not to attack alone.

I realise his shooting just blows in general. His not a high percentage shooter that is for sure. But the opening post in general is suggusting his not capable of catching on fire for a 50%-60% night. Realistically speaking I don't expect that to happen now or into the playoffs. Because his getting a double team on everything. He can still catch alight and shoot the lights out, but for this season and this season alone I don't really expect him to do so. Mid 40's with around 30 points is what I expect though.

The reality is its a poor post with little research done to back it up. There is only ONE guard in the NBA this season who averages 20 ppg and shoots above 50%, and that is Monta Ellis who averages 20.2 ppg.

And notice that these past 16 games.. Yao has been out and T-MAC has been double teamed almost non-stop. There is no other major offensive threat even on the court for the Rockets right now, as good as Scola and Battier have been for us. No one is going to key their defense on those guys. And they sure as hell aren't on Deke or Rafer.

Its just a thread where you want to whine and complain. Why can't you just go to one of the other threads and do the same thing instead of starting up your own and have to wonder why you have to defend your silly observations with little substance to other posters. You even said "he is a horrible shooter, horrible finisher, slow penetrator, and a lazy defender." I mean.. seriously, how old are you, 13? Really? I think you need to wait at least an hour following a loss before making these kind of threads to regain your composure. He's a "horrible" shooter and finisher and a "slow" penetrator and a "lazy" defender? How is that scrub even in the NBA? The refs must just be giving him his buckets and other teams are so stupid to be double-teaming him. Hell, don't even guard the guy, he won't do anything anyway, right?

To be fair, Carmelo was 3 of 14. Good defense on T-Mac's part maybe? I do agree McGrady is not a great shooter. If only he could shoot like Dirk. Mcgrady should have imposed his will today. I didn't watch the game so I don't know.

On the bright side of today's loss, we're moving closer to have a rematch with the Jazz! If we lose again to them this time, then we just suck. No more excuses.

tmac's jumper has gotten worse as the season progressed.

this slump has occurred before his shoulder problems so it's not an excuse. he simply has to keep shooting more in practice and before games to get into a rhythm. it's inexcusable.

if this happens in the playoffs and we lose, he will get most of the blame and rightfully so.

so i hope if he struggles with his shot with the first 3-4 shots, he better goes to the rack and get to the ft line before he catches his rhythm in the 2nd half. it's VERY inexcusable.

wow reading comprehension and personal insults ftw!!!! no, im 19, but my parents say I dont act my age... go figure

And when did I ever say Mcgrady needs to AVERAGE 50%??? I stated he has not hit the 50% barrier for 17 games now.... Im perfectly fine if Mcgrady;s seasons fg% was around 45%.... thats fine and dandy, but not hitting the 50% barrier for 17 games now is a bit atrocious... I dont think there is one other Rocket this season who has done that.... He still is a an above average scorer, but I get frustrated when people claim he is an mvp candidate.... It discredits how much his teamates stepped up and how well Coach A ha been coaching... The reason Mcgrady recieves so many double teams, is because the actual scoring talent surrounding Mcgrady can be played off on many occasions... especially when Deke and Hayes are on the court....
And yes he is a horrible shooter.... and yes he is a slow penetrator... (requires mulitpe picks to the basket to reach the paint and has a hard time passing his man on one on one coverage.... and yes at times he is a lazy defender. Again, there are times when you see some promise on his D, but that consistent effort is not there.... The fact that he is not willing to take on the other team's best player while other superstars are proves the point.... He does not want to take the challenge... Luckily we have Battier....

It's like majority of the people on this site wear beer goggles are something. How often do you see McGrady really tear it up.

I just don't understand how his r****ded parking lot 3's with 20 seconds left in the clock doesn't drive you guys crazy. He's always hurt, hardly drives it in, and shoots low %. Just look at his stats man.

Fg% doesnt just take into account jump shots... This includes, lay ups, dunks, floaters... everything....

Either he is taking too many jumpshots, or he just isnt finishing around the basket.... either way, we are ****ed if this trend continues into the playoffs.

Blame the broken shoulder and the broken back.

If he adds too much muscle, his back will be hurt. Without massive muscle, his shoulder got broken. Tough.

Spoiled fans. You should be honored to have T-Mac on this team. I know you guys have to find someone to blame when we lose but you can't blame it on him. If you understood the injuries he fights through and still plays through 40 minutes of the game then you wouldn't be complaining.

LeBron had a slight back injury when playing against Orlando, nothing compared to what T-Mac goes and has gone through with his own back, and shot a 6-22.

So just shut up, and cope that it was a team loss, and don't single it down to one player. JUst like when we win, it's a team effort.

Hasn't he been driving it in more lately? Granted, not with great results, but also not getting that "superstar" benefit of the doubt officiating anymore which gets you to the line. And those distance threes don't look so great when he's off, yeah, but no one complains too much when everything's falling.

IMO he's still doing something right if to make him look bad, it takes holding T-Mac up to standards like 50% FG shooting, and comparing him to the likes of bron and kobe.
