At my girlfriend's apartment complex off Westeimer, I have witnessed SEVERAL accounts of people being too lazy to walk their trash to the dumpster.

Get this: Residents of her complex will actually put their garbage ON THE FRONT WINDSHIELD of the car, and DRIVE it over to the dumpster. A few put it in the trunk, while 1 guy actually had it on the roof with his hand holding it up there.

It's crap like this that gives me no sympathy for Houston being the fattest city in the nation.

Ok not only is this dangerous for the driver and others (running over a kid or a pet would be bad), but it just looks bad. Get off your ass and walk!! It can do wonders for that waistline.....

I'm confused. Are you leaving guilt out? Or do you really mean 'admission'?

I can proudly say I've never done that. I simply throw my trash out the window.

Another reason Houston may be the fattest is because of all the Fifth Ward residents too lazy to get a job and they use their fortune they steal from the government to buy and eat fatty fried chicken all day.

    Note:

    1) I only do this when I'm taking the trash out as I'm leaving to go somewhere, as the dumpster is right next to one of the entrances to the complex. Otherwise, I actually DO carry my garbage to the dumpster.

    2) I have a truck, so I put the bag in the bed of the truck, which isn't as tacky as putting it on the roof or windshield of the car

    3) I don't actually LIVE in Houston, but I do think of it as sort of a surrogate home to me

I know you just did not diss Popeye's.

I'm guilty to the Fried Chicken Charge. Luckily, I'm too lazy to drive 10 minutes to get it.

    Rocketman95,

Off topic, there is a basketball court at Walnut park near Parmer and Lamar that's rarely used (not in best condition but its got two baskets and asphalt) if you want to ensure Austin stays leaner than H-Town.

I heard that the basis for naming Houston the fattest city is because we have more restaurants that any other city. I heard this on the news one night and then my mom asked me if I had heard it, so she did too.

Does anyone know for a fact that this isn't true?

I'm not saying Houston isn't a fat city, I just think it should be based on something else.

I used to think that the city really wasnt that fat, but more and more as I look around (at any given Rockets game for example), I just see a lot of overwieght people. Im not in perfect shape (6-1, 190) but am not overwieght. All it takes is just a little motivation. Do 10 situps twice a day and eat one or two less bites of food at every meal. That's all it takes to start.

of course houston is a fat city or maybe those people on the news are just joking around with us, those crazy guys.

we (houstonians) all know were in the best of shape because were part time kick boxers.

Thanks Moondogg. I checked out that site. Part of their survey was done based on restaurants, though. But I'm glad to see it was only a small part. Maybe it was another survey that I heard. Or maybe the news was just focusing on that one aspect. Here's what I found...

But like I said, those were only a small part. Thanks again!
