I, too, love informer by snow. And I have to be Erasure's biggest straight fan. I have all of their CDs. Singles, Imports, everything. I even have a version of Crackers Intn'l that was only released to Mute employees that has a killer 'God rest ye merry gentlemen" on it. But my ultimate embarrassing song I dig is Tonight by New Kids on the Block.

    I suck.

Since I'm not a pu$$y, I'm not embarassed or ashamed to like any songs.

I don't understand the O' Brother Where Art Thou thing. I mean, if you're one to get embarassed by what you like, I'm sure you have worse. At least the soundtrack is critically acclaimed and a lot of people I know own that cd.

In seriousness, TheFreak has been personally responsible for me sharing the same philosophy as him. It is easy for me to say because I sold my John Tesh cd.

I have some unlabeled mixed pop cd-r's, but I only play them when I'm by myself. Nice thing is when the fad passes, you can trash them and you won't feel guilty

When I first started to read this thread, I didn't think I had anything to be embarassed about (except for liking Chuck Berry's "My Ding-a-Ling"). But when I read RocketMan Tex's post, I remembered that "Brandy" was "our song" for my first girlfriend and me. I recall necking with her on the couch in her basement while the radio played this song (seemingly over and over), so it brings back fond memories for me too.

I don't like having my windows rolled down, and some trendy pop "punk" song is on the radio. ie. Blink 182 and Sum 41 and crap like that. It give you this look of poseur, or fake, or some craaap. I mean, I do like the mainstream, but it just doesn't work like that sometimes. I might be too punk with my music or something.

The fact that I can go through and fill in most of the blanks on the songs people are mentioning probably isn't too great for my musical image (...Baby One More Time, Jamie Walters, England Dan). However, to quote Dwight Kidder, one of the greats in the pop culture quiz bowl scene: "There is no shame -- only points."

Stuff I like, but probably shouldn't:
    • all of Ace of Base's singles
    • "Apollo Medley", Hall & Oates (along with a couple of Temptations for cred)
    • "Blue (Da Ba Dee)", Eiffel 65
    • "Pop", *NSYNC (or however's it's spelled)
    • Hysteria, Def Leppard
    • Innocence and Despair, Langley Schools Music Project (elementary schoolers singing the hits of the '70s)
    • "Vision of Love", Mariah Carey (it's got a 5-syllable word in the lyrics! it's gotta be good!)
(For reference, my musical taste is probably closest to chievous minniefield's.)
