i agree with the jordan/pippen concept they weren't trying to sell posters, they were trying to demoralize the other team VC playing a poser team with no hopes of anything besides selling posters got what he wanted - no wins, no chance of anything besides a dunk contest award and for the record, stevie showed more talent in that dunk contest then anyone else have u stood next to stevie in person, he's not much taller then i am - yet theres a pic of him just floating in air let me find it: crap its on my other cpu neways its a freeze frame of him with his back to the rim and his whole body is next to the rim not just his head/arm
a lot of people wanna give jordan any basketball accolade, best player- jordan best dribbler- jordan best jump shooter- jordan best 3pt shooter- jordan best big man- jordan best little man- jordan please hop off his jockstrap The fellas on NBA.COM did a poll last year, and it goes like these 1- Carter 2- Kobe 3- Kemp 4- Dr J 5- Richardson Every our beloved TMAC was in the top 10 Guys who say Jordan MIGHT be a better all around player than Kobe may be right but there is no way in God's name that Jordan is a better dunker than Kobe
I agree. It really depends on what people mean when they ask "who is the best dunker" because Vince gets/got higher and 'Nique was more explosive off the floor but when it comes to getting to the rim in traffic and hitting an extra gear while in the air to throw it down on someone (no matter how much that defies physics) MJ was the best ever. He was not as creative as some other guys (like Dr. J, 'Nique and Vince) but for me dunking on people who are trying hard to stop you in a game is really the true measure of a great dunker.
Put the pipe down. Jordan was about 2 levels above Kobe. Jordan was a better athlete, better ball handler in traffic and had a nose for getting to the rim. It didn't hurt that he had bigger hands too. Kobe at 22 was the dunker that Mike was at 32.
SkyWalker when he dunked over the car.......... I loved that.... And i miss city slam.... But Vince is the best dunker........His Passion for just dunking is amazing......then the flair and throw down....... ~ROX~
No and no. Jordan, Pippen, Erving, 'Nique, Kemp, Drexler, McGrady, whoever... they didn't dunk like Vince, and it's because they couldn't, not because they weren't trying. VC was good enough to get a marginal team within one shot of the East Finals. Posters wasn't all he was there for. Yes, it's clear to anyone that he's not the basketball player Jordan, Pippen, Drexler, Erving were... but he could still play. He was still trying to WIN. How many times did you see him miss one of those dunks? Whatever works, works.
Gotta have a Drexler dunk mix in here. <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/SvjJA93Xy9Y&hl=en"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/SvjJA93Xy9Y&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object> Clyde's #1 dunk against the Lakers might be the most beautiful, elegant dunk of all time.
Yeah, no disrespect to all the legends before Carter (MJ, Dr. J, Nique, etc.), but Carter is by far the best in-game dunker ever. I don't see how people can argue otherwise after seeing the 100-dunk compilation.
Y'all have covered a good number of the top 5-8. The harder part is filling out the rest of the top 15-20. Terence Stansbury (360 Statue of Liberty) Stevie TMac Tom Chambers (who has the #1 in-game dunk by a white guy of all time) Robert Pack Jason Richardson Larry Nance Spud Webb (I've met him, he's kind of an *******) Josh Smith and of course James 'Flight' White
Harold Miner probably had the sickest dunk I ever saw. <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/pUvrdZcBBBc&hl=en"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/pUvrdZcBBBc&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>
and he still has a career avg over 23 points and 5 boards on almost 45% shooting and 37% 3 point field goals. makes you wonder what he could have done if he worked hard as jordan. he's not just about dunks, he's a really good shooter and a decent all around player except maybe for defense.
drexler pillaging/raping/trashing/facialing/wutever on Drob50 2x in a row made my day D.RObinson #50 was a wash IMO, his whole game plan was based on an offensive foul for scoring He'd turn, drop his shoulder bowl the defender over and score He got bailed by Timmy who imo is about 2x as good as drob
Check out the Mike Conley dunk at the end. Two handed behind the free throw line. Its one of the best dunks I've ever seen. I remember seeing him do the same dunk, but bending the rim. I can't find it though. <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/dKDDJH_aU9s&hl=en"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/dKDDJH_aU9s&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>
^^^^ okay, can't see youtube today at work, is that a clip of that dunk contest that abc sports used to have during college basketball season. mike conley dunked from the free throw line. they also had barry sanders, bo jackson, michael dean perry, refrigerator perry's little brother who also played pro football. I remember that, that mike conley is also one of the most ridiculous dunks I've ever seen.
