I'm glad to see Rafer Alston coming back. If he is still hurting, he should see limited minutes. Aaron Brooks has been big for us so far, and Bobby Jackson is coming to life. Like many have already stated, Rafer is still our best point guard, so it's great to see him back.

We don't need an all star just a consistent player there.

What about a guy who is averaging 8.5ppg shoots .412 from 3pt range and has a better than 3 to 1 assist to turnover ratio, would that guy be interesting?

*Fixed. And I wager a starting PG that shoots 41% from 3 would not avg just 8.5 points on this team.

He is a very underated player, very good with the ball, steady, a good shooter and is a good passer.

Not athletic, by any stretch, but a realistic upgrade to Rafer.

his decision-making in tonite's game has been terrible.....haven't seen enough of him to say if this is the norm for him though

He's a backup just like Rafer. If u want to run a platoon at the pg, that's cool, but I'd much rather hand it over to brooks and back him up with a bigger pg. Blake I guess would do as will beno.

Rafer seems like a really nice person. I never bought into all those off-season criminal charges.

Having said that, now can we get a starting point guard?

Huh? Are we watching the same game? The High PnR with Aldrige is a thing of beauty...I can just imagine Scola and him being very effective at it.

He has 5 assists right now.

And the Blazers are up by 11 on the Lakers

I would rather have Blake than Rafer.......and both are borderline starters quality backup type of players.

Blake fits better than Rafer in that he is a much better shooter and would thrive playing with Tmac and Yao...

I don't like the way he forces passes into crowds......I've already seen him do it 3 times for 3 turnovers (although one of them was just as much his teammate's fault)......but maybe McMillan is okay with this and I'm just used to watching JVG/RA coached teams right now....

You are probably right. And that's the conundrum. Because with too much Rafer, there is no chance of Finals. ;)

I like creative PGs they make it easier for teamates to score, Rafer is a "Safety at all costs" PG......

Except when he decides to shoot a lot....

Neither Steve Blake nor Rafer Alston are starting caliber PGs in the Western Conference where you're up against the likes of:

    Steve Nash
    Jason Kidd
    Chris Paul
    Tony Parker
    Deron Williams
    Baron Davis
    Allen Iverson

Baqui, I see your point but none of those teams can match up with Yao and Tmac.....so while it would be great to have a star PG too....the chances are that is not going to happen.

So get the best one you can...

Any upgrade over Rafer is OK with me.

Actually, BJ + AB is an upgrade over Rafer; espeically, now Yao is out.

Rafer being back is a blessing in disguise. This gives us a chance to put AB back to the bench on a great note now that his confidence is high. Let him fly under the radar for these few remaining games. Bring him out to shine again in the playoffs ala Boobie Gibson games 6 against the Pistons last year.
