If memphis is deciding, I think they will definitly go with Rose. Because he played at Memphis in college. I doubt they will pick Beasley.
Bodywise, Rose is closest to Deron Williams. Deron W may not be quite the athlete Rose is, but it isn't like he isn't more athletic than most NBA PGs. You could throw in Billips too--who would overmatch just about any player with quickness or strength a few years ago. Rose also reminds me of a min-Lebron in terms of freakish power and athleticism and the all around game--though also having initially a medicocre J at best. I do think he is substantially ahead of Francis in BB smarts, but I am not convinced he will be a manage your team type PG. His distribution and efficiency (A/TO) is not where other Fresh PGS have been like Kidd, Ford, Paul, even Conley. IMO is not as controlled and with the vision as those guys were even as freshmen. Now he might develop that manage your team mentality and toughness in a leader--look no further than Chauncy Billips. I still think Beasley is more of a sure thing and will be a more immediate impact player. Also, Memphis has 3 young PGs with upside, including the 1st PG taken last year. I think w/o a doubt they would take Beasley. Seattle would want Rose I would imagine given they drafted Durant and Green and have a couple of other relatively young PF/C types. But if I got the #1 pick I trade down to #2 if I could and take him there. If not just take Rose and go from there. I would think Minny, NY and Mia would go with Beasley. NY's best player is a big PG, Mia needs the best player who isn't an SG, and Minny's roster is pretty wide open for improvement as well.
I think Rose is most comparable to young Starbury but with more pg vision and less scorer mentality and also minus the bad attitude. If you have ever seen interviews with Rose, he is very laid back and seems pretty humble. Does he have the leadership of C.Paul or D.Williams? We'll find out soon. I enjoyed watching Rose more than Beaseley, and i can tell he will be one of my favorite players for years to come. I would trade T-Mac and whatever anyone would want except Yao for that #1 or #2 pick to get Rose...or even Beastley. How has Rose not impressed you? He got better as the season progressed and played his best when it counted the most. His superior talent, athleticism and court vision undoubtedly had to stand out to you. You mean to tell me you never got that, "Okay, that's definitely the best player on the floor" feeling whenever you watched Rose? I think he's going to be an All-Star caliber, franchise altering PG on the next level. I also think it's precisely why you have to take him over Beasley. Beasley's a great player but there's always going to be another player of his mold. Quality PG's are so hard to come by, on the other hand.
Point guards have more impact on a team now. Look at Chris Paul torching San Antonio. As long as it's not Memphis picking at #1 I see Rose going first.
I know I keep saying this, but I feel horrible for Hawks fans. How can you pass on both of those guys. Paul on the Hawks, with the rest of those athletes....
