So does that mean he's the one athlete that you're not president of their fan club?

RJ averaged a phenomenal 10 points and 4 rebounds per.

And EG gets snubbed once again.

    Unbelievable.

Gasol was Rookie of the Month for the Western Conference.

Jefferson was Rookie of the Month for the Eastern Conference.

i'm pretty sure matador is right, one for each conference, but in the past including this year i thought it has been just one rookie per month for the whole league. maybe i'm mistaken.

    It's West and East...

    NBA.com

NEW YORK, Feb. 4 – Memphis forward Pau Gasol and New Jersey forward Richard Jefferson today were named the Western Conference and Eastern Conference got milk? Rookies of the Month, respectively, for games played through January 31.

Other candidates for the Eastern and Western Conference got milk? Rookies of the Month were Golden State's Jason Richardson, Houston's Eddie Griffin, Indiana's Jamaal Tinsley and Philadelphia's Speedy Claxton.

    Much ado about nothing...

I think starting this season, the XYZ of the week/month has been awarded to each Conference. Well maybe the league is afriad that the West would sweep the thing the whole year ... And it also makes the MVP, ROY, ...... look more competitive.

Matador is wright. Every month there is a east rookie of the month and a west. to bad for griffin he's in the conferance with both Gasol and Battier, both frontrunners for rookie of the month. EG was candidat for rookie of the month, if he played in the east he would have won it, but he can't beat Gasol 20 points 9 rebounds, Gasol and Nowitzki wil be forces in the nba for years to come, (nice i'm also from europe, it's nice to see european players play so well)

And Griffin won't be a force?

If he was getting as many minutes as Gasol and was the first scoring option (as is Gasol) you don't think he'd put up the same numbers, if not better ones? His FG% is even higher than Pau and he takes longer range shots.

Say what you want, but I smell a snub.

Wakko67, you could say the same thing about a lot of players. How about when Kwame Brown hits his peak and becomes one of the best players in the league (hypo), should we go ahead and give him the ROY this year.

You can't argue that Griffin is better than Gasol right now. If Eddie was good enough to be our number one scorer, he would be. You can't vote on things based on anything other than reality. Gasol, as a rookie, is the number one option for his team, and is doing a bang up job. The only way there will be a snub this year is if Gasol doesn't get it.

    *****

Actually, Gasol leads all rooks shooting a spectactular .519 from the floor. EG is 11th among the rooks, shooting .398. Of course, EG takes more 3 pointers, but since his three point shooting percentage is .380 (second among rooks), his two point shooting percentage isn't close to Gasol's.

I love EG's game. But Gasol is clearly the leader for ROY and deserved Rookie of the Month.
