I bought a condo in LA now, and I am busy and have not really followed Rockets very much. I still think Rudy is a bad coach, I thought this way when Houston won the championships. Why do you think I would change right now? Although I hope Rockets would stay in Houston. [This message has been edited by Caveman (edited February 26, 2000).]
freak....was dierker hired before or after the astros got their new arena passed? i'm just thinking that the rockets may have done this to help keep the fans happy and get the arena passed. rudy has been in houston all his career would he sign an extension like that if he didn't think the team would stay in houston?
Well, if his goal is to stay in Houston, he certainly wouldn't improve his chances of doing that by *not* re-signing. And it's hard to imagine that the Rockets would have a better chance of getting the arena vote passed with, say, Chris Ford as their new head coach. I too have had my doubts about RT, especially last year. I thought (and still think) he was partially to blame for the Pippen fiasco; he never seemed to make adjustments to fit him in the scheme. But he does have a fantastic eye for talent, players want to play for him, and he's laying a good foundation. Glad to see he's being rewarded for it.
Rocket Fan: I believe Dierker was named coach just prior to the stadium vote. I'm glad Rudy is staying, I just think the timing is no coincidence.
