Dirk just said F U and hit a dagger right in the face of Grant Hill and the Suns. but then again, who doesnt go off on the Suns ?
Your two criteria (1) wilts under pressure (2) afraid of being physical are not connected. Wilting under pressure is mentally soft. Chris Webber comes to mind. But I don't think he is afraid of physical contact. Being "afraid" of physical contact may be confused with preferring finesse over brute power play. Yao has been perceived as soft because of this.
LOL...yeah I saw that. Too bad they just didn't put Rasha Bell on Dirk and shut him down. Let's see, Bell is 6'4" and seems to have good lateral movement and be a stronger than average SG. Yep, that pretty much is all you need to shut down the league's worst all time MVP. Dirk = smallest 7 footer of all time.
T-Mac, maybe. Yao, definitely not. This man has played on rotting toe and broken foot (for who knows how long).... Also, he's not soft, like others say like Gasol or Nowitzki, because Yao's post play (especially the last 3 seasons) has been about as physical as any player could get maybe this side of Shaq. In fact, most of his points come from his back being to basket or fighting for postion under it...plus he plays his hard night in and night out I can't put him on this list....I'm sure a few non-fans or someone doesn't watch Rocket games could, but we know better. I can't put Dirk on there either, because playing the post is not really a dimension to his game, he is a very put jump shooter, but has learned to go in the post over the years...and it wasn't his fault Dallas completely choked...that was team effort and coaching mishaps.
I don't think that Dirk is soft, it's just that he's a limited player. He's not strong enough to be the inside or penetration guy that other premier power fowards are.
For the record, Chris Webber (and Derrick Coleman, too, but he's been gone a while) == the softest bigs in NBA history. Webber was as fast and strong as Amare Stoudemire before he got hurt later in his career; he just didn't want to be anything but a finesse player. He even said that he hated low-post play.
He was actually much stronger than Amare from what I have seen. Actually, for Amare's size he seems to lack strength IMO.
Someone most of y'all aint familiar with..... No 1 overall pick Andrea Bargnarni This down filled pillow is 7 ft with skills but refuses to rebound, block and never posts up.......now they bench him and play him in once in awhile and still nothing
