I don't doubt your story. The only people I've ever met who really love REO Speedwagon seem to come from places like Scranton, PA and Schenectady, NY.
Piano Man You maybe right Its still rock 'n roll to me I hate the song "Uptown Girl" And I thought it was funny when Weird Al make a parody of "Piano Man" <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/iV-L14ReUsE&hl=en"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/iV-L14ReUsE&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>
I used to like Billy Joel, but now that I make my living in a piano bar, I've grown to not be a big fan. I still like New York State of Mind and Just the Way You Are.
Its GREAT how dailymotion has the NAMES of the vid. Youtube really needs to add this Billy Joel's daughter FTW Alexa Ray Joel
Perhaps not but the "Definitely NOT music that changed everything" (high) standard he used, they can belong. Them kicking ass is also up for debate but each person's ears is different
Summer, Highland Falls Roberta Los Angelenos and the D&D theme song: Angry Young Man I believe I've passed the age Of consciousness and righteous rage I found that just surviving is a noble fight I once believed in causes too And had my pointless point of view And life went on no matter who was wrong or right.
They weren't always about Love Shack. I used to hear this on KPFT back in the day: <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/OCPTS24fbsk&hl=en"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/OCPTS24fbsk&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>
There is something satisfying a bout derailing a Billy Joel thread into a B-52s thread... Anywaze, this is the definitive B-52 song in my book. <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/wCp6YNalsUY&hl=en"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/wCp6YNalsUY&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>
There's your winner. My favorite Billy Joel song, and some of the best lyrics ever: They say that these are not the best of times But they're the only times I've ever known And I believe there is a time for meditation In cathedrals of our own Now I have seen that sad surrender in my lover's eyes And I can only stand apart and sympathize For we are always what our situations hand us It's either sadness or euphoria And so we'll argue and we'll compromise And realize that nothing's ever changed For all our mutual experience Our separate conclusions are the same Now we are forced to recognize our inhumanity Our reason coexists with our insanity And though we choose between reality and madness It's either sadness or euphoria How thoughtlessly we dissipate our energies Perhaps we don't fulfill each other's fantasies And as we stand upon the ledges of our lives With our respective similarities It's either sadness or euphoria
I agree with FranchiseBlade - Billy Joel is one of those artists that I like some of his songs but never enough to buy a whole album by him (even though I have contemplated buying "The Stranger" several times). He is one of those that are destined for me to get a greatest hits album by him and nothing more. With that being said, I like the following: Captain Jack Moving Out Allentown Uptown Girl Tell Her About It
