Lil Pun's thread in the Feedback forum got me thinking. You know that little statement box you had to fill out when you're registering.. what did you say? Mine was something typical like: I've been lurking for a while and I'm interested in learning and sharing my views on the Rockets or something corny like that. Yours?
I don't really remember if I said anything at all or if I was required to. If I was required to say something I do not remember what it was.
I was reading only the front page for a couple years and couldn't figure out how to enter the bbs part of the website. Then Clutch either got too busy or lazy or whatever and didn't change or refresh the front page for a couple weeks. So I no choice but to figure out how to get into the bbs.
Because I could. About a year before I registered, Clutch told me to piss off because my e-mail address was no good and he was afraid of spam. Before that, there was no free registration. So I lurked for about 3 years in total before I could register. Will contribute some time in the near future.
I wish we get to see some of these statements that Clutch got. I wouldn't be surprised if most are repeated word-for-word, especially typical ones like mine.
I was lurking when living in Atlanta. Then, when I moved to Moab there was nobody to talk basketball with. So I joined. I continued to post lightly for a few years.
Previous forum I was at merged with another site, which I felt was a step back. Been lurking at CF for years and finally got a reason to join up.
At first, I only joined because I wanted to read a thread on CCF, that was in June 2006. Then I started posting/reading the forum more regularly in September. I don't really remember the biggest reason, but I remember part of it was because I was a Yao fan, but now I've been converted to a Rockets fan.
Didn't have to give a reason when I signed up, but I signed up after Clutch started occasionally making the board readable only for members in 2001. I had been lurking since the late '90's.
I thought that by joining I would eventually find a female life partner, a roommate, and someone who would give me a job when I moved to Houston.
I know this feeling, I used to Lurk like hours then sometimes Clutch would block the site to nonregistered members. Then sometimes I'd feel the urge to really post some funny/witty replies to these threads but I can't since I'm not a member and registration was not open. Looking back, thank GOD I wasn't able to register. Some of the stuff I wanted to say didn't have any relevance with not even an ounce of humor in them.
You used to live in Moab??? I got a crazy old uncle there who always picks fights with the local park rangers......he used to live in this big house directly on top of a huge boulder overlooking the canyon.....then he sold it to some dot.com kid and built another house......this time inside of a huge boulder! Anyways, Moab is great for a few days of adventuring but I get desert phobia in that place real quick for some reason....
