Bourn's speed pays off and gets us an early lead. It's like any single becomes an instant double with him on the base paths.
Absolutely, and that's critical. For all of Taveras' speed, he never was a great basestealer. It seems Bourn has the instincts and baserunning skill to be a 50+ SB guy, and that's a great way to make up for any slugging deficiencies. Pleased to see Pence take a couple of pitches as well. By the way, I'm pretty sure everyone in the world saw the Ausmus DP coming from a mile away.
That's twice now the Astros had setups for potential big innings ruined by a meak tapper to the mound for a double play.
That was a good pitch too... curve well out of the strike zone. That pretty much sums up the luck the Astros have had this week...
what i dont understand is, roy has gotten knocked around for 7 innings to start the season anyway. is his "comfort" with ausmus really beneficial enough to cut our chances of rallies and runs in half? great play by tejada. obviously he doesnt have the range or glove of everett, but he sure has a cannon for an arm.
How in the world can Pence lay off some of those other borderline pitches but chase a pitch like that almost out of the batter's box entirely? Hunter is an incredible talent, but his approach is so frustrating to watch.
Roy's our Ace. Whatever he wants, he gets. If he wants Bradley to catch him, that's what's going to happen.
do any of you know what ended up happening with Humberto Quintero? did he pass through waivers, get picked up, or what?
I think it should be noted that RoyO has NEVER lost 2 games to start a season. If he lost his first start, he ALWAYS won the 2nd start.
