Here's hoping Walsh fixes them up - I wouldn't mind seeing the Knicks matter again.

    Step 1 - Fire Isiah

Step 2 - Hire Rick Carlise or Scott Skiles, someone that cracks the whip and is hard core about "playing the right way"

Step 3 - Buy out Jerome James (2 yrs, 12.8 remaining). Same for Marbury and Rose unless you want to hold off until the Feb deadline in hopes that the Nuggets tank and trade K-Mart or Nene to get out from under their contracts.

Step 4 - Draft a TRUE PG if possible. Sidestep OJ Mayo - he's going to be another "point guard" that in reality has no ability to run an offense and needs to be a wing player (Leanardo Barbosa, Jamal Crawford, etc). Trading up for Rose (David Lee plus their pick) or down for Collison would be the best gameplan.

Step 5 - Push Eddy Curry on anyone, and sweeten the deal. Getting a return is not even a point of consideration. Try the Wizards for Etan Thomas and Darius Songaila.

In two years, there's opportunity to clean up the roster and get things back to decency. It's time for the Knicks to quit trying to rebuild without tearing things down. All that's done is sent them to the basement of the league.

maybe, but I don't think JVG goes anywhere near the New York Knicks. I see him behind the booth for another year, contemplating his options.

no need to jump back into such a volatile situation, he's worth more than that.

Well if the Knicks give him a high $$ sign. He'll be on board, IMO. & we all know Kicks don't mind spending the money, they just don't know how.

JVG would be a terrible choice for the Knicks at the point, imo. They need to rebuild and develop talent and JVG is not a coach for developing talent. I think he's a guy you want when you have a bunch of talent but they don't focus on winning, don't have chemistry, or otherwise don't maximize their gifts.

Maybe he does - but I left him and Larry Brown off the list since boomerang stints happen only so often. Also, JVG seems to be the type of coach that wants to take over a playoff-ready team. He quit on a much better Knicks team than he'd be inheriting if he returned.

    If JVG goes there.
They need to make a reality series out of JVG trying to get Iverson to practice.

If the Knick get # 5 in the Lottery, does Lee + # 5 get them high enough to draft Rose?

    No opinion on Bayless?

I can't argue about clearing some roster space, but that is some serious money to expend.

How does Zach work with a Skiles or Carlise type of coach?

Too bad that Larry has already had the Knicks experience...............he would fit better with the cleaned up roster.

I think the Knicks need to start remaking their team right away. I dont think there is any chance Lebron goes to the Knicks because of his relationship with JayZ (Nets). Plus the Knicks may still be in rebuild mode trying to overcome all the past mistakes and bad contracts.

    who knows.

The two major assets the Knicks have in their favor are

    1. Unlimited Salary (they could literally become the Yankees of the NBA)
    2. Players want to be in New York

edit - if they have a firesale is there anyone we would be interested in?

Maybe Zach Randolph (iffy) but questionable players seem to turn it around in Houston

also who becomes untouchable on that roster as part of their future?

Good call. If he could get Denver to play defense and not completely kill the offense, they'd be tough.
