In a 7 game series, the better team wins. I am a believer, but we were to lose in the first round, I wont blame anybody.

We could get sweeped but thats ok i know i think we all know what this team is capable of doing and next season if healthy especially our focal points will make us stronger. I hope Yao can atleast play 66+ games and be ready for the playoffs and same can be said about Mac if he stayes. I just dont want this organization to do him wrong if they indeed have plans already drawed up with someone else.

I think we can do it

    I know this though

IF THE ROCKETS GET SWEPT or 4-1
    Then
This season is a MEGA FAILURE!!

Excuse of not . . getting SWEPT IS NOT AN OPTION!

Only way we win is if :
    Bad shot selections go in
    We make the extra pass
    Tmac drives more
    Chuck hayes dies
Landry gets a facial dnk on opposing superstar
Luther head shoots a jumper not an behind the ear trick shot
We all go see the wizard of oz and get a Heart

I said this before, but I believe if we were in one of the old playoff system in the first round: best of 3 or 5. The Rockets would have better chance of getting out of the first round, like in baseball or the wild card team in NFL. Because it only be one or two games we would have to win and we could play out of our minds for a few games and we are pretty much in the second round.

But, since our glorious commission was such genius to extend what used be the one of funniest parts about the NBA the opening round into a unbearable 2-3 week marathon. We probably aren't going to stand a chance against superior team without possibly our best player.

we're 13-5 without yao (20-12 last year without him). we would be a top 6 team even without yao. the problem is by being a lower seeded team, we won't get homecourt and thus play teams that are easily better than us (a top 3-4 team).

we can play without yao, just not the top 3-5 teams in the L.

yes it's a disappointment, but it depends on who we play. if we get the 5th seed, we should take them to 7 games.

if we play the lakers or spurs, taking them to 6 games is a huge overachievement.

You aren't funny. Especially since two people close to the Kentucky program have already died this week.

Check your humor before you post it.

I don't like this at all...

These rediculous expectations and references to our past really diminish what the rockets have managed to do this season.

These rockets won 22 games in a row...22...and have played extremely well without their best player. Spare me, the Mavs couldn't play a week without Dirk, the Spurs started sliding with their 3rd best player out, we need to do alot less criticizing and look at all the good that happened this season.

We needed a decent 4 and we now have 2 pretty good ones. We're playing a style that gets the most out of our players and we have one of the best coaches of all time. So, yeah, i'll be upset if the rockets lose in the playoffs but you don't have to be a homer to see the bright side of this situation.

    nice job.

Dallas looked like lottery team without Nowitzki

The Lakers looked like a run of the mill 6-8 seed w/o Gasol

S.A. was just an ok team without Parker.

Phoenix looked drowsy and defeated before Marion trade and early on with Shaq.

Don't get me wrong there are some great teams out west, but not as great people make them out to be. And we are lot better than what people give us credit for....even we don't get past the first round I will still be somewhat happy if we put up fight and lose to a team like the Suns or Spurs in 6 or possibly 7 games....then we can say oh yeah we didn't have our best player. We were able to make these other teams give their best against us at 85%....imagine what would've happened if Yao actually played we might won the series.

Liked to mention that the Lakers during our streak lost to these teams the Hawks, Trailblazers, and Kings.

    Struggled to beat the Warriors.

Lost last week to the Bobcats and Grizzlies....doesn't sound like a team that is ready for a title....you don't lose teams like that.

we dont need to look in advance.. lets take the game one at a time. If we lost in the first round again, we still have lots of excuses but i dont want to talk about it this time. it would be better if we become optimistic and a believer enough that we could take it to the finals. We know our team can overcome. WE WONT WIN IT ALL but we give a GREAT EFFORT and a GREAT FIGHT! If we could see our team doing their best, i will be most happy.. Wherever they will go. In that sense, they become worthy of their salaries

I dont want to see a laid back team who does not give a good fight. I want to see the team courageous and stong come playoffs time. We will ovecome our weaknesses.. Book it! Believe it!

I really don't think the seeds matter at this point. I mean, sure the home court advantage but that s only if you take it to 7 games.

it matters alot since the 1 or 2 seed can draw the nuggets, who are as inconsistent as they come offensively, and poor on defense (even though they are still scary should they get it together in the playoffs), or the warriors who dont have an inside presence, and are poor defensively.

for most of the higher seeded teams right now, i think the rockets would be their first option to play. everyone wants to play us now because they know just dont have the talent, and are very small up front when mutumbo is on the bench (which is most of the game).

i really do not see how some are EXPECTING us to get out of the first round. if we manage that i would truly be blown away, but i highly doubt it. like i said, we are a jumpshooting team now, and none of our shooters are consistent.

I hope and pray they don't get swept, but if they end up playing the Spurs, then I would be extremely surprised if they extend the series to 6 games or more. Some times there is only so much you can do.

Either way, I think it would be difficult to judge this team by their playoff showing this time around. It was fair last season, when neither "superstar" stepped up to lead the team over that hump, something that was VERY doable and we let slip through a couple of bad defensive plays down the stretch.

It just wouldn't be fair this season. I will look for a good showing, but I won't be expecting any 'miracles'...

I think a lot of people are underestimating the Spurs. The are in my opinion unbeatable since TD, Parker, and Manu are all becoming. With Yao, we had a really good chance of pushing them to 7 games and it would have been 50/50, but no Yao = 5 game exit! :(

I think the Suns are going to dominate us also since Shaq will be able to rest and get healthy for the playoffs. :(

Other than that, the rest of the teams are beatable. The Lakers are on the fringe because their are too many questions about the return of Gasol and Bynum and how well they can mesh with such short time. Landry just had a swallow knee and look how much he has struggled. Bynum dislocated his knee so it is going to be hard for him to get back into game shape and contribute right away.

After watching the Blazers game tonight:

    1) There are problems with ball movement, again. The problems with ball movement result in scoring droughts, again.

    2) Landry doesn't look like he's 100%.

    3) The Rockets have a real problem playing against size. A skilled big man in the paint can light them up. A skilled big man who can hit the jumper from 12 to 15 feet away can light them up. They also get beaten up on rebounds.

    4) Any team that can reliably hit the outside jumper will do well against the Rockets. The Rockets gave the Blazers the outside shot all night and Portland just couldn't convert.

The Rox don't want LA, SA or Utah in the first round. They probably have their best shot against NO. It's still going to be very, very tough without home court.

Their offense is predictable and we have a good match up with their players.

The only reason we lost last game was due to our sloppy defense. We started to celebrate eaarly in the game.
