Huge Metroid fan without playing Super Metroid?? Not having played perhaps the greatest SNES game ever??
That... sucks. There're two things I can take comfort in though, I suppose... one is that I have the original, not GH, version of the game. Maybe that will do away with some of the issues. Second... I've been through the game 5 or 6 times... and once you've been through the game (I think) twice, your party is "max" level, and all the battles are ridiculously fast and easy. Speaking of which, that's one of the many things that makes CC truly great: New Game+ mode. You get to keep all your star levels and all your non-unique equipment, AND (the most underrated RPG feature EVER) you get fast-forward and slow-motion buttons that work for every screen except for FMVs and loading screens. Then you add in the fact that you HAVE to go through the game at least three times to get all the characters, a considerable number of interesting sidequests, and you've got a game that's endlessly replayable. God... how many more RPGs would I play through more if they had a New Game+ mode with a fast-forward button? As for the rest of your post that I didn't quote... I have to say, it's nice to hear from a level-headed person, haha. Seems like most CC critics get ridiculously angry that it's not a "true" sequel to CT, which somehow makes it a bad game (why that is, I don't know). As far as the whole Serge/Kid thing, you mentioned Radical Dreamers... if you wanna play it, the ROM is here and the English translation patch is here. I'd never played a text-adventure game before, but I enjoyed it. There still wasn't a whole lot in the way of the development of a love story, but it does give you a slightly different perspective on CC. And more questions I just have to ask, as far as optional sidequests and whatnot... did you... ...make any rainbow equipment? ...get the Masamune (beat Dario)? If you didn't, save a black plate for him in future. ...beat the Criosphinx ? (I'd be surprised if you managed it on the 1st play-through... remember to save a yellow plate...or two... or three for him) ...get the "real ending" instead of simply killing the last boss? (I'm guessing you did) ...see the Magical Dreamers concert? ...get Glenn's 2nd Einlanzer? ...which character did you get out of Guile, Nikki, and Pierre? ...which character did you get out of Glenn and Korcha? I could never get into it like I did Morrowind. Oblivion has the advanced combat, horses, and a bunch of other stuff... but Morrowind had atmosphere... something Oblivion totally missed the mark on for me. I found the world to be pretty boring on the whole (except the Shivering Isles expansion... but that was too little, too late). I also felt kinda limited, having only the main quest and guild quest lines... I couldn't align myself with a warring house like I could In Morrowind. And the fast travel made the world seem, well... small. I preferred travel by Silt Strider. Shame, really. I'll hope for an awesome fifth installment.
Yeah, I didn't really have any problem with it not being a "true" sequel. In fact, I can't really think of any better way of tying the two games together. Thanks, I might give that a shot some time. I think so. Not very much though, although I'm assuming the game doesn't allow you to create too much rainbow equipment. Yeah. I have bad memories of that fight, due to how tough he was and due to the fact that freezes were highly likely in this fight. Not a good combination. I...don't think so. Is this the fight with the riddles? I think I just answered the riddles...or maybe I tried to, but the game froze and I decided not to bother with the quest. Actually, you just reminded me that I didn't technically beat the game. I was trying to get the real ending, but this fight seemed to freeze a lot as well (due to the usage of elements). I think I just said screw it and ended up watched the ending on Youtube. I think so. You only get the 2nd Einlanzer if you get Glenn earlier in the game, right? I got Korcha, so I don't think I could get it. Or there was no point in getting it. I picked Guile.
I know. There's nothing I can do right now. I'll be getting a Wii this May and Metroid Prime III and Super Metroid will be the first games I purchase. What's odd is that I've played every Metroid game except Super Metroid and Corruption. Even Metroid II. The way I see it is I'm saving the best for last, and after playing Metroid Prime and Echoes, it's pretty exciting.
Yea you definitely need to get a Wii then. You can download Super Metroid from the virtual console and you get to play Corruption. Both excellent excellent games. Surprisingly, Super Metroid has aged pretty damn well. It's still almost as fun to play now as it was back in the day. Metroid Prime is my 2nd favorite game of all time, bit I really didn't like Echoes very much. Echoes just didn't have the brilliant level design or the epic boss battles that the original Prime had IMO. Corruption on the other hand is excellent. Not as good as Prime 1 bit definitely a lot better than Echoes. As a Metroid fan, you should love it!
Man, really does suck how that bug hurt the game for you. You can technically create as much rainbow equipment as you want... but you need the plates stolen from the dragons as materials, so the only way to get more is to go through the game multiple times. Yeah, the Criosphynx is the guy with the riddles. He's r****dedly hard the first time through. I think I gave up and just waited for the second play-through. Good that you got Guile, he's easily the best of those three characters... heck, he's got that strong attack that hits everyone. Though since he's the only one in the game with a reversed element grid, he becomes more useful as time goes on. Spoiler Yeah, and it's a shame you have to opt to not save Kid to get Glenn. Glenn with two Einlanzers is an embarrassingly powerful force. Serge with the Masamune, Glenn with the two Einlanzers, and Guile is pretty close to the best team you can get. The evolved Pip is pretty awesome, too (ever do that?). I can't emphasize enough how this game seems to get even more fun the second time around, due to the fast-forward button and, for me, being overpowered (I enjoyed the story and music of this game enough that I don't mind not having to put any work into the battles at all).
Never played Star Fox. Samurai Showdown Final Fantasy II - whatever Metal Gear and all of its sequels Any WWF game made after 1998 Conflict Series Golden Axe (never played the first one) Ecco Flash Back Super Smash Brothers (on any system)
There are a ton of games I'd like to play, but what bothers me are the games that I played but never finished. I hope one day to get back to some of them, but I don't know if I ever will. Thus, I'm going that direction with my list: Shenmue - Probably got 20% in and just never picked it up again Shadow of the Colossus - Got about halfway through when I bought the Wii GTA: San Andreas - I got midway through the 2nd part of SA when my PS2 died GTA: Vice City - ALMOST finished Baldurs Gate 1 and 2 - I played about halfway through 1, and never finished. Played only a bit of 2. System Shock - I was pretty close to finishing it, but I got stuck with no easy solution (I needed an inventory item that I'd already used) and so I just never got back to it Quake 2 - got hooked on the multiplayer, and never finished the single player Quake 4 - I've played some of it, but other games have always come up, and I've never gotten too far Unreal - I must've played the first few levels of this a dozen times, but something always came up and I never got any further KOTOR - 20% in or so, and I never got back to it Fallout - I got pretty deep into it and lost my savegame . . . I never started up again Zelda Twilight Princess - I've never finished a Zelda Might and Magic VI - I am frustrated that I never finished this one . . . I spent FOREVER playing it, and eventually I moved on Metal Gear Solid - Never got too far, but it seemed cool enough The Longest Journey - Played about 25%. I'll probably pick this up again at some point. I suck at adventure games - it's usually best for me to play using a walkthrough. Syberia - Same thing as "Longest Journey". I really enjoyed what I played of this game. The Curse of Monkey Island - Same as "Longest Journey" Homeworld - I really enjoyed what I played, but I never got that far Warcraft III - Got pretty far, but never finished it. Starcraft - Got about halfway through but never finished Thief - I bought this in a 2-pack with "Planescape: Torment", but I really wasn't interested in "PS:T", I just wanted "Thief". Played "PS:T" instead, and it became one of my all-time favorites. Most of the C&C Games - The only one I ever finished was the first. I've played most of the others, but never finished them.
