For some reason, I'm beyond pumped about this season. Not just in the Astros, but in all baseball in general. I'm loving the Extra Innings preview today and thought I'd start a thread on this.

Fukudomania is about to reach epic (read: soon to be annoying) proportions. 3-run shot in the bottom of the ninth to tie the game.

    3-3 at Wrigley.

Not shocking at all to see both the Beermakers & Beerdrinkers bullys implode. Central is wide open.

Fukudome has a beautiful swing. I hate him already.

Well, I went to the Nats Opening Game at the soon-to-be-some-company-name Ballpark last night. Not the best ballpark in the league (especially the exterior yeesh), but the experience inside the ballpark was spectacular! Sight lines of the Capitol building and Washington Monument from the seats. Wide open concourses that allow fans to see the field when they're out of their seats to get food, etc. And while the concessions were expensive they did get a lot of good local places to give it a "DC Flavor" including Five Guys, Ben's Chili Bowl, and Hard Times.

Some other cool DC touches are the Cherry Blossom trees they planted in the outfield (which look pretty sad right now) and the president mascots. They're pretty freaky looking, but the race is hilarious (like the brewers sausage race). Teddy Roosevelt has not and probably never will win. Oh yeah, and the high definition gigantic screen is pretty awesome too.

It will be much better when the development finishes around the park, especially if they can develop an Anacostia Riverfront. There are literally blocks and blocks of construction surrounding it right now. Cranes everywhere.

i think the steroid talk that was taking place, with the mitchell report and what not is what's pumping me up more, now we can actually watch games and hear stuff about players, stats, teams other than just steroid talk. then again canseco is going to ruin it all once his book comes out this week

I thought this thread would blow up after so much happened today.

I'm more pumped for this season then any in recent memory. Maybe its because the Cubs might have a chance. :)

He's Roy's personal catcher. We've known he would be the opening day starter for a few months now.

I'm pretty excited.. I work straight across the street there sometimes. Definitely hope the area improves and construction makes it nicer!

Me too. Last season was the first time I've never watched one single game in entirety. In fact, I never watched the majority of a game. In my life, MLB is going the way of hockey.

But I still like the Stros and will follow them.

I admit its still hard for me to pay attention to baseball, but I love stats, and baseball is by far the best stat sport there is.

I was disappointed to find out that bat-girl isn't doing her Twins blog anymore. That was one of the funniest sports related blogs I've ever read.

    Oh well.

    Baseball is better than hockey.
