I've never really gone out too much in Houston, and I may be in town this summer for the first time in a while. I was wondering if anyone had a rundown of Houston bars. I've been to: Deco - Decently nice place, I think a lot of Indian people go here, because I ended up seeing a lot of people I knew the night I went. I had a mixup with the bartender(fool lost my credit card), and he hooked me up with half-price drinks for the night. Marquee - Only been on Tuesday night, when they have half price ice teas...kind of a dive, but fun the time that I went. Buddha Lounge/Room/Can't remember - Came after hours, lots of old, rich people. Definitely not my kind of bar. Then again, it may have just been that night or the fact that it was after hours. Rice Village - Mostly college kids...Not pretentious, lots of guys in t-shirts and hats. Pretty much what you'd expect out of college bars, very chill. Hush - crap. Nice looking, but a bunch of high school kids. That's pretty much the extent of my Houston bar knowledge. Anyone else?
It really depends on your age and what you like. For example, my little brother is only 24 (I'm 36) yet all he wants to do is hang out with us whenever we go out, and then crash at my place. It's getting annoying.
Fatty I have a very interesting Pub Fiction story to tell you here on bbs. From my exploits on this past monday night.
You look 46 in some of your pictures. Easy to lie on the internet. See I can do it too: I am a Bassist for Kiss.
And I could care less what you think, son. I've been on here long enough that people know I don't lie.
It's really long and complex man I'll have to save it I was up there just a minute ago place is pretty jumping Had to call it a night because I got to be at the station at 8 am tomorrow then going to the UT/Memphis game then back to the station to run our ESPN Radio MLB baseball game I'll post it late tomorrow / Monday.
I mean theres not a ton to the story, went to Pub monday night got trashed closed out the bar stumbled out made an ass of myself and tonight when I went back It was like the "oh my god you should have seen this guy last time out" but yeah pub is legit, always have a good time out there, I frequent it more during the week though weekends im not there too late in the night b/c of work obligations.
"Flying Saucer" in Downtown is pretty damn nice. Just a nice bar with a huge beer selection. Just hard to get to. "Pub Fiction" Never was a fan. Maybe it was just the time i went, but there were all sorts of people just looking to stir up trouble. It tried so hard to be trendy that it was annoying. At least for my tastes. "Baker St." in Rice Village is awesome. Love that place, and the live music usually is great. "Kobain" named after a late-Nirvana singer, cant remember his name, was a lot nicer than I thought it was going to be. Edge of uptown, but nice and relaxed. Doesn't try too hard to be something its not. "Whiskey Creek" Go here for beautiful women. Country bar, two stepping is involved, but man oh man...place is loaded with hotties. Recently its gotten way more metro though, and they have shifted a lot of their music selection to hip-hop instead of country. "Wild West" Nice place if you're into country bars. That's exactly what this is. Went on a Thursday, and the girl to guy ratio was at least 4 or 5 to 1. Oh yeah and drink prices can not be matched. Period. 2.50 for a Corona? On a Friday? Sign me up. "The Roof" Cool, trendy, on a roof. Not memorable, expensive beer (5 bucks for a Corona or other import) but its cool. "Roc-Bar" My kind of music and atmosphere. Older crowd, late 20's. Not jam packed either, big enough bar. Pretty cool place, I'd recommend it. "Lil Woodrows" Two of em I've been to, one in Midtown other in Rice Village. Great in the spring time when we have cool 60 degree or 70 degree nights. Great deals too. That's all for now. Still haven't been to Howl at the Moon, but been wanting to check it out.
Like Fatty says, I met him Friday night at Pub. My brother is a Pub regular and they have mutual acquaintances. Say what you want about him (hell, I have argued with him before about plenty of **** & also been on his side in arguments here), but he doesn't lie. He is who he is and doesn't apologize for it. He could easily be 36 or 34 or 38. Who cares? I know 20 yr olds who look 30 and 30 yr olds who looks 40. What does it matter? Anyway, I don't live in Houston anymore so my bar sense is limited but Pub is great for watching games, gets a bit annoying when it turns into cover band bar afterwards in my opinion.
Speaking of which, we're certain to watch the Spurs game there tomorrow. Or possibly Tailgate. One or the other. I'll find out 1 hour before tip-off.
lizzards - totally sweet.... i actually dont frequent the lizz much anymore, but i did go last night and did get very drunk and/or rowdy. pandora - on washington, 1st time to go there myself last night.... trendy, dark, loud music, many beautiful women, dont really remember much after that. i'm hungover. ps - the marquee is awesome, as is the lonestar saloon. not a fan of pub fiction.
The Gingerman - An old two story house in the village that got hollowed out and turned into a Brewgarden. Really cool, eclectic place that has the best beer selection in town. Deco - Seems like its becoming an indo-pak place. Doesn't really seem like it belongs where it is, really. Red Door - Probably my favorite place to pick up women. Flying Saucer - The waitresses melt me... long dark hair, knee high boots, and mini skirts? Yes please. Onion Creek - Pretty cool little place up in the heights, only been once though. The Wet Spot - A decent place to watch the game, good food specials, crappy beer selection. Stag's Head - Usually go here to throw darts, like the atmosphere. Baker St/Brian Os - Basically the same place anyway, decent live music, good bar fare.
