Annex or make into a puppet state, same difference. Stop shrinking from your view that the USA should rule the world. Everyone knows that how they think here.
USA is home of R-O-C-K. We R-O-C-K in the U-S-A. IF USA rule the world, then R-O-C-K In the U-S-A would mean that the whole world would be entitled to R-O-C-K. A much more rockin' and better world. For those about to do this - I salute you.
ROCK? hah, i bet i rock more on a guitar than you do. (unless you are really good at guitar ). ah, time to record another angry song.
The Republic of Texas wasn't annexed by the United States. They negotiated a treaty that gave Texas rights no other state in the Union has. It was an agreement by one sovereign nation to join another. Far different than being conquered by a CCP dictatorship led by a fanatic, Mao. Impeach Bush and Send Him to Tibet to Report the News.
I was talking about Iraq and Afghanistan. Meogwi, what happens when countries use their "democracy" sponsored by the US and vote in a government hostile to the US? The US embargoes the hell out of it. Some democracy, looks more like imperialism to me.
Are you always this dizzy? So you say it is OK for the British to ocupy India still? And of course it is OK with you had the Western powers are still ruling China? WHo why do you think we have this thread? You are twisting minor techical details. You use anything as long as it works for your advantage. What does it matter if the current Dalai changed his mind? In a free world, people can change their mind. Why should he stay with you once he found out the situation isn't good? That is why it is called free will. Only in a suppressed society where you make people do what they don't want. You should try it sometimes.
Hmm, If next year, the US comes in and overthrows the Chinese government, then we inherits the land that China held and we have a completely valid claim to all of its land? Whoopie!!
There's still the part of actually going out and establishing control. We did so in Tibet, but the US wouldn't be able to do it simply by taking over Beijing. The Japanese could never do it even in many of the areas they nominally pacified.
i don't see why not. if it happens, then what can i say. we lost. but i doubt US have the resource or power to hold on to it. it's just going to be another government established later. that's how it works in there.
Actually, I think from Texas history in middle school, I remember Texas was Mexico land. Mexican government let US citizens to migrate there because they weren't really using it that much at the time. Then when Mexico came out against slavery of all things, the Texas U.S. resident at the time decided that was the straw that broke the camels back and we had the Texas revolution, where U.S. immigrants basically took the land by force from the Mexican government.
I was about to say the same. Why stop there? Why not give the Americas back to the natives? Do Indians deserve a special place that other "Indians" don't? Oh wait, it's because had the other "Indians" got their way, you'd have to pack your bags. There is no right or wrong in politics, there is only realpolitik. Simple. One day some idiot who can't find Tibet on a map decided to assuage his own moral ineptitude, a feel good measure, decided to take issue with a Cold War enemy (the target is already there) and "the enemy of my enemy is my friend." Listened to the words of that enemy, truthful or not. And the "Free Tibet" movement has been growing ever since. That's just funny. A lot of people in the likes of Quebec, Basque region, etc kinda want to get out too. Not exactly working in their favour is it? The Confederate kinda changed their minds too. Happened too long ago? How about you try to negotiate on the behalf of Texas. Say something like "we hate payin' taxes to 'em Yankees." We want an independent country. Well, independent only politically, the US still need to bankroll our economy. Try it and let me know how it turns out. The "oppressed society" argument is truly getting old.
You would have us believe that the Chinese have made a choice in their form of government and that's a joke.
Thank you. I have the same sentiments but just could not put them in the same eloquent way that you did. (I will now go back to read the raging debate in the threads here. I have to admit that I am - with a sense of guilt - getting rather entertained in a way.)
how the hell is that a joke? people made a choice in communist in the early 1900's. at the time, it was the most suitable form of ideology for majority of the people. people in the country side were heavy exploited by the upper class and the only way to get their fair share was join communist and fight for it. that's why, by the end of the civil war, majority of the people were supporting communism. because they saw hope and freedom. without the help of the people, communist would never got in power.
