Original plan was to go with a friend and my brother. Now the stupid friend who has been there has backed out. My brother and I are still going.

Will be in Buenos Aires from early Saturday till late Monday evening.

Then will fly to Santiago, Chile. So basically will have Tuesday-Saturday in Santiago.

I wish we were spending more time in Buenos, but tix and hotel are already booked. Might still be able to change it though.

Santiago sounds okay, but its close to Vina Del Mar and there is white water rafting which I would love to do.

Interested in active stuff (white water rafting, etc.) and checking out nature. Not that into man-made historic crap. Beaches are of course a must.

So what should we check out? Anything I should try to change with the trip?

My quasi girlfriend has been in Chile for the last month. She's in the Patagonia area south of Santiago. Not sure how far away from Santiago she is. She met an ABC film crew who took her "Canyoning." Not like she's a pro at that stuff, so they must have day trips for novices.

Valparaíso, Viña del Mar, and Concón are all great little towns along the coast. I would recommend staying in Concón if you are on a budget, but Viña del Mar has some fantastic hotels and casinos that are more expensive. I wouldn't stay in Valparaíso, as it is more of a port than a beach destination, but it is well worth a visit. In Santiago, do not miss downtown. Its a great place to people watch, as well as check out the local artists and performers. The fish market is not to be missed. If you're looking for rafting, hiking, etc. try Cascada de las Animas in the Maipo valley. We did a rafting trip there four years ago. The river can range from a 3 to 4 depending on the amount of rain. At the time we did it, it was a 3. They also have some good hiking trails as well as a zip line, but we didn't have time for either one.

Spent about a month in BA last year, I'm out of town for the weekend & don't have time to really get into much detail.

Shoot me an email through the board or bump this early next week, and I can maybe help ya out.

    Bump.

    Trip is final:

Saturday and Sunday in Buenos Aires
    Monday Tuesday in Iguazu
    Wednesday in Buenos Aires
Thursday, Friday and Saturday in Santiago

Help with what to do and see in those places would be appreciated.
