if that t-mac showed up last year, they would have went to WCF. this year without yao, best is probably 2nd round. Damn...thats how the rockets should be. Yao and tmac but tmac first, especially since yao doesn't have the stamina.
dude mcgrady attacked more in these 2 games then he has all season. jesus christ, this fool was good in his first year with the rockets. look at how fast he runs. plus they both, yao and tmac look much more youthful which i miss. damn...tmac was passionate about the game. how far did dallas go that year?
Game 6 was one of the best ones. <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/On3mcD7LSaE&hl=en"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/On3mcD7LSaE&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>
They lost in the next round to the Suns. If I remember correctly we were one of the only teams to blow them out in their own building that year. Who knows what could have happened....I'm not saying we go on to beat the Spurs in the WCF that year but man we were literally one game away from from showing what I truly think this team is capable of. When you think about it, games 3 and 4 were in the bag for us. I remember in game 3 (I was there) we were stuck on I think it was 88 forever while they went on a huge run. You add a couple made baskets, one or two less turnovers, and a handfull of calls our way and we sweep them. Could of would have should of. You can't live in the past though so here's to this years' run!
All I remember was watching this game in Peoria, IL with some buddies from Houston that had moved into town. The cops came knocking on my apartment door. The neighbor called the cops on me because we were being too loud. So we had to watch the whole second half without screaming too loud. That was hard to do.
Did Yao get in Howard's face after that hard foul? I think it was him. He looked pissed getting up, but I don't remember...
Actually, lets not & say we did. My friend & Maverick fan that shaved my head based on that series (see sig) said that was just bad taste & negative karma & would come back to haunt them (see game 7).
Thats what we miss most about TMac. He's an 'old' 29 w/11 years in the league. It's worn on him, it's obvious.
We were a little old. Our backcourt was slow, but man do I miss Bob Sura. He was the heart and soul of that team. Juwan Howard was hurt for the playoffs so that forced Ryan Bowen to have to play and guard Dirk from time to time. TMac was the best player in that series, but by the time game 7 rolled around he was exhausted. Carrying the Rockets on offense and having to guard Dirk a lot just wore him out. Also you have to take into account that Yao was in foul trouble almost the entire series. He was no where near as good as he is now.
That's why losing that series sucked hard. Not only was it to Dallas, but we had a 2-0 lead after playing on the road! That series should have been in the bag. T-Mac and Yao were a lot more youthful then and the T-Mac we saw there was basically an Orlando T-Mac in a Rockets uniform. That T-Mac is long gone and there is no denying it. He's way too worn down (as LAYGO said) to be doing that. Maybe for one or two series (if we get that far) in the postseason, but that's it. I hate to dwell on the past but that was the destined series and they still messed it up.
Well duh he has like the 4th highest PPG in the playoffs. If he wasn't fat and pverweight last year it wouldn't of went down.
Yep, that's true. The guy was playing heavier than his normal playing weight and he got tired at the end of games because of it. I hope he notices that he's explosive when he's only around 215 pounds and tries to go back to that level.
