I LOVE it when people use the Boston game. TMac was swarmed the entire game by two and three defenders and the rest of the team was standing around. Oh yeah, and Boston is far and away the best defensive team in the league.

Yes, he played badly, but so did the rest of the team BUT it wasn't as if he was being guarded one-on-one and was just passing the ball away. Yeah, he played poorly, but everyone has bad games...especially when you have a great D double teaming you and your teammates are not moving or hitting shots.

Boston is just a better team with 3 big players vs. our 1. No shame in losing to them, as they also beat Dallas and San Antonio on that road trip.

Did the Celtics just beat the Suns by about 20 points a day ago?

yes they did thrash the suns.
We weren't the only team that did a no show for the Celtics. They've gone through and routinely smashed all the teams in the West

    this is your main problem
Go watch Kobe lately and you'll notice in the 4th q he mainly does jumpshots if his team is losing. Clutch situations also involves him taking jumpers. He doesn't take it to the rack unless its one on one coverage usually. Its just how he plays now.

In fact its quite similar to how T-mac closes games. You could argue that T-mac actually doesn't shoot as well as Kobe but is a better passer end game.

They gave them a proper beating.

That's the thing...they are so good defensively and against us they focused on shutting McGrady down...and they did. I don't get why people rip on him so much for not playing well that game.

    Exactly.

I think it's a sure bet they'll be in the finals. They could definitely win it all the way they're playing.

Man get real! I never said that Kobe was not a jump shooter. Gotdamn why do so many people around here get stuck on one damn word or phrase. I said that Kobe can get to the rack anytimes he wants right? Is that not true? Why does that need to be commented on?

    TMac's shot selection = BAD

The recurring theme I have been seeing with McGrady (this year especially)

When Rockets win: "The best players have to make plays. I had to impose my will on the game."

    When the Rockets lose
: "My teammates need to hit shots when I set them up."

Bottom line: TMac is paid to be a franchise player not sometimes but all the time. Until he is (and at this point I have no reason to believe he ever will be), he will be justifiably criticized.

    dude thats my whole point
Kobe can get to the rack anytime he wants to right? Why the hell does he close out games doing jump shots?

ask yourself that. He rarely closes out games driving. Same with T-mac now a days. There is a reason for it.

I don't really take Tmac's word seriously. Hey! He is not a Shane Battier. But, who cares? As long as Rockets win, I am happy!

    Um
I notice you neatly managed to ignore most of his comments in a 22 game stretch this year.
I've noticed a trend from some clutch fans too, they like to selectively only remember things for many players.

I love how this thread got almost as much attention as the actual game thread, if not more. I don't like when he makes statements like that, but he can do that. He's the superstar.

tmacs comment about his teammates making open shot is realistic
i mean can tmac seriously score 100+ points every night
well i guess he could if he scored 13 points every 33 seconds :p
