One more thing...how did the thread get this far without an obligatory tinman sighting? Is he too busy rooting for his Celtics these days or is he still trying to get Mad Max out of prison?
I can only agree, I'm watching the '86 finals and this team had all the talent they needed, Olajuwon, Reid, McCray, Sampson, Lloyd. They had great players on every position, the only thing they didn't have was experience. Like Sampson in his 3rd year and Olajuwon was only in his second, but Akeem was just amazing, he outplayed Parish who is an HOF and he was in his prime too..
"While becoming Hakeem he lost some serious strenght and power."-Milad And Akeem was his first name. Olajuwon on the jersey.
... the potential to become Hakeem? Going with Hakeem here. I'll take experience and refined skill over raw talent any day of the week, on any team.
If you add Lucas, they are even more incredible. One of the most underrated teams in history. Not in '85-'86, when everyone seriously thought they would be the next dynasty, but later. Within a couple of years of Ralph getting injured, and the loss of Lloyd, Wiggins, and Lucas, Houston literally fell off the NBA map. Interesting thread idea, MEOWGI. I'm guessing you watched Landry, he morphs into the gigantically better Akeem, and you started imagining Akeem playing with Yao. One thing I want to mention... Akeem did have a midrange game. He just didn't use it as much as Hakeem.
...though it would be awesome to see Akeem b****slap MeMac after one of his ill-advised heat checks. You must always give The Dream his change.
Rookies!!! no they aren't the same person. one was a Kool Moe Dee Dream. <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/zMrcBdXU9Nw&hl=en"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/zMrcBdXU9Nw&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object> then there is the peaceful muslim guy who happens with a thousand post moves. <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/eHxIbVHIVIY&hl=en"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/eHxIbVHIVIY&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>
this is a trick question because either guy would destroy the NBA. the Akeem guy would get more fights and technical fouls, but yet his dunking on everyone would make sports center everynight. the Hakeem guy has more moves.
Hakeem <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/q46eTR64cUs&hl=en"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/q46eTR64cUs&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object> Evil brother Akeem <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/k6xJBnNIfiQ&hl=en"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/k6xJBnNIfiQ&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>
I wasn't serious, I know Hakeem was better than Akeem but I think it's pretty even actually, Akeem was Shaq before Shaq.
If we had Hakeem, we would be throwing it in the low post all day. He would eat today's centers alive. The Adelman offense would be much more of a hybrid focusing more on feeding the beast.
I personally think Achtung Baby was much better than Joshua Tree. I love them both, but Achtung Baby really showed the world how awesome the Edge is. Bullet the Blue Sky was great, but can't touch the Fly. Its no secret at all.
It should be mentioned that in today's game Akeem would foul out in the first half every night and probably spend half the season suspended for fighting.
