are u blind!!!!!!!!! the man just admitted that he imposed his "will"(heart) in the 4th quarter, and that's only if feels like it, not consistantly. Then he is always putting his foot in his mouth by referring to success as "I". "I did this and i did that". Yea i think Tracy is a helluva player, and is a major part of this team, but this is a team! That's what i believe he still has not grasped in clutch moments consistantly.

mcgrady said one sentence (ok, maybe a few), and we have a big thread going on clutch. man, if this is not star power, i don't know what is. :D

like i said last night, i was expecting him say the "impose will" thing even before he said it. i know him well, even though i don't personally know him. there really are only 4 types of quotes you'd hear from mcgrady -

    1. i imposed my will...
    2. i'm glad the team won and i was just trying to get my teammates invlolved...
    3. my teammates need to make open shots...
    4. ...that's because we have no one that can create his own shot outside of yao and myself...

win lor lose, after each regular season game, mcgrady will say one of these 4 things. 80% of the time.

and of course, in the playoffs, it's "it's all on me".

it's ok. the man still gets amazing talent to play the game. that he needs to take a little speech class is all. and i don't think it's a requirement that a baller also needs to be a good speech-giver, eh?

I guess you choose not to remember all of his comments about "how well WE are playing as a team...guys stepping up with Yao out". he has made those daily

He was referring to his CLUTCH 4th quarter scoring spurt in that quote, not about the only reason why we won the game

See, that's what pisses me off about some of you TMac bashers. You complain about total crap. It's like you wait for him to have one poor game after having 10 good ones then you pile on. You take little things and blow them up (like an answer to a question about his perfomance) and you make up crap as well (TMac doesn't step it up in the playoffs, is the reason we lost Game 7 against Utah)

There are indeed reasons to criticize him (sometimes settling too often for jump shots, shooting too quickly when we have a lead, etc...), but you guys just keep digging for crap

Hmm, guess this is today's out of context quote T-Mac bashing thread.

I am very surprised nobody went with the T-Mac hates his kids angle from the interviews.

First off Tracy McGrady is not a superstar. He is a good player that I would call a star. Second I really don't see the big deal about his comment and this is coming from someone who thinks T-MAC needs to man up. Can we just get off of what players are saying and focus on what's important? He is a basketball player not a politician. T-MAC has always made stupid comments to the media. But the way I feel about him is not predicated by what he says because we should care less. Our focus should be on basketball and the Rockets getting far in the playoffs this year.

Imposed his will, as long as it is a W I don't care what he says. Lebron says the same thing and am sure he does not get bashed for it. I just hope the whole team can imposed their will on Sunday's game against the Spurs.

The thing about all these endless "T-Mac says something in an interview/T-Mac's facial expression changes in a way I don't like" threads is that at the end of the day, he's a basketball player, not a politician or diplomat. Yeah, he says some stupid stuff sometimes, like most athletes do, but unless the words out of his mouth are something like "I want to be traded" or "We're winning the next 10 championships in a row, no one can ever possibly beat us, I guarantee it", I have a hard time getting too riled up about it. Maybe at one time there was something to it but it's really gotten beyond nitpicky at this point.

I dunno, maybe to answer the criticism he should get creative with this stuff, turn his game interviews into some weird kind of performance art, just to mess with people. Speak backwards, carry on mundane conversations with Craig Sager's ties...

The problem is that "imposed" is usually something somebody says about somebody else. It does sound awkward if its applied to oneself.

The reality is that T-Mac pretty much has a few stock quotes that he uses over and over. When he has a good game he almost always says, "I put my will on the game," etc. I think that's his way of saying "Yeah, I had a good game."

You guys should know by now that he isn't going to give you a great quote very often, if ever.

Who cares? I'm just happy he played, and stepped up in the 4th quarter when the Rockets really needed him to.

I do think though that once his shot started falling, he really seemed to play with more energy.

    CRASH
It's time you started working on
    your interviews.

    NUKE
    What do I gotta do?

    CRASH
    Learn your cliches. Study them.
    Know them. They're your friends.

Crash hands Nuke a small pad and pen.

    CRASH
    Write this down.
    (beat)
"We gotta play 'em one day at a
    time."

    NUKE
    Boring.

    CRASH
    Of course. That's the point.
    (beat)
"I'm just happy to be here and
hope I can help the ballclub."

    NUKE
    Jesus.

    CRASH
    Write, write--"I just wanta give
It my best shot and, Good Lord
    willing, things'll work out."

    NUKE STARTS WRITING them down.

    NUKE
    "...Good Lord willing, things'll
    work out."

Call him what you want to call him. He is a good player I will give him that. But is he one of the alltime greats? NO! I can not honestly put Tracy McGrady and Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Hakeem Olajuwon, Larry Bird, Karl Malone, and the list goes on, in the same sentence without feeling like I am doing something wrong. I put T-MAC on the same line with guys like Shawn Kemp, Stephon Marbury, Alonzo Mourning. All those guys are really good players but I don't consider them BASKETBALL GREATS.

Obviously he looked like completly different player in the 4th, but DAMN it is good he carried us, he played like real leader.

Sometimes I belive some of you gys really try to make something out of nothing.

T-Mac carried us, we won the game, he was close to the TD. What else do you want?

These cats who are analyzing Tmac's every word, the majority of them worship Obama.
