I thought this thread was a good idea since there are only about 10 games left in the season and the race is pretty tight.

Okay, so recently its been Narrowed down to LeBron, Kobe, and CP3.

LeBron - Great Stats and Great player. But... An MVP makes their team better. In LeBron's case they are 4th place in the east. Not my MVP

Kobe - Great Stats and great player just like LeBron. Lakers have been great all season, as with Kobe. Even with Bynum out they continue to succeed. But there have been losses recently like tonight vs Bobcats that can't be overseen. Kobe could win the MVP, but I think what Chris Paul is doing is amazing.

CP3 - Best point guard in the game. Great numbers for a point guard. Doesn't have to score a lot to get a win. Hornets win against the teams they need to win against and are number 1 in the Western Standings. You could give it to Kobe or LeBron but IMO record is more important this year to who wins it.

    CP3 is my MVP.

I was favoring LeBron midseason, but I'm leaning towards Kobe right now.

If CP3 keeps his team in the #1 seed (and they have a more difficult schedule than the Lakers)--I think he should get it. Leading the league in As, steals and a 20+ PPG scorer more efficient than Kobe or Lebron.

I think the legacy thing will probably swing it to Kobe however unless the Lakers continue to be very mediocre/inconsistent.

Lebron is out of it now--Clev IMO needed to go get the 3rd seed which they have not and will not do.

LEBRON JAMES i just cant vote against the future G.O.A.T.

CP3 is just remarkable this year and it looks like we are in for much of the same for the next ten years

Kobe will win, but it is amazing to me how he willed his team to the playoffs the last two years and got no respect but BYNUM EMERGED AS A FORCE early this year and gave him some bonefide help and now KOBE gets all the credit and then they add gasol and KOBE gets even more credit. Interesting isnt it

My MVP is and for the next 12 years will be LEBRON JAMES

so what does this all mean?

steve nash is gonna win again for no apparent reason

    WHERES TMAC???

Out of those three though, have to go with Kobe. That boy is playing with an extremely depleted front court right now and hanging around the top of the west? Sure they got beat by the boobiecats today, but he has willed his team to plenty of wins during this period without Gasol & Bynum.

The same cannot be said about CP3. If either Chandler or West was injured for awhile, you can almost guarantee the Hornets being 7-8th seed, or even out of the playoffs. David West was out a few games recently. 1 loss to Houston, 1 loss to Detriot, 1 win to Chicago... not exactly impressive stuff. I can almost see it now. Paul wins the MVP, they lose in the 1st round. Would be like 06-07 with Dirk all over again.

Lebron shouldn't even be in the discussion. Can't win the MVP if your team isn't winning enough, even if you have SPECTACULAR STATS(Ahem, KOBE 05-06, 06-07). And you know you don't deserve MVP when a guy leaves your team(Drew Gooden) and starts playing like an All Star.

I think Garnett should be on the run for MVP, but I voted for CP3

i think Kobe deserves the MVP more because chris paul has too many outstanding players on his team; david west, peja stojakovic, and tyson chandler. Granted kobe does have lamar odom, pau gasol and andrew bynum but hes never had all 3 playing at the same time and the lakers still succeed.

The MVP is given to the best player on the best team. That is Kevin Garnett. You can make a case for Kobe, but KG is the leader of the leader.

Garnett will have a high chance of winning because the media and NBA personnel love him. It may all come down to the final results of the regular season. If New Orleans remains close to or even the first seed, there's no way Chris Paul doesn't win it in a perfect world. Otherwise, beyond Garnett, Kobe might be favored because he's never won one before and it's kind of like the Oscars where that kind of stuff usually leans in one's favor if they're owed. Lebron definately shouldn't even be in the conversation. If he's such MVP material, the Cavs should at least be second place in the crappy East.

So, I'd say if the final season ended with Boston as the Eastern first seed, and NO ( God forbid ) ended up with the first seed, then it should be this order:

    1.) Chris Paul
    2.) KG
    3.) Kobe
    4.) Lebron

By the way, off topic here, but can someone please start a thread talking about Shaq talking bad about Pat Riley? I can't make new threads and I felt this was worth discussing. I've lost all respect for Shaq because of this. If Phoenix trades him, he'll be bashing them too.

More sickening two time MVP award winner.....

    Steve Nash or Kevin Garnett?

Uhhh at least Nash has been out of the first round, I don't know what....5 more times than KG.

If KG wins his second MVP award this year it does nothing but devalue the award and the plenty of stars out there that are light years better than him that haven't won it twice or even once.

Right now it's a two man race between Kobe and Chris Paul, I have Kobe ahead because his team has been ridden with injuries and he himself is playing injured.

    1. Kobe
    2. Paul
    the rest don't matter.

But if the Hornets finish with the best record(in the west) and the Lakers don't even come 2nd or 3rd place there is no way you can deny CP3 of an MVP award.

    Kobe.

I dont understand how the best player in the leauge has never won this award. If its not this year then I dont know when it will be. CP3 is still young and will get his MVP awards.

I'd like to say more than one MVP:Kobe Bryant,T-MAC,Chris Paul,KG
I think among Rockets,Lakers and Hornets, which team can be the first in the west, the leader will be the MVP(Lebron is impossiple,KG is also of little hope!!!) :p

That's not a good reason to give away the best regular season award there is.

Chris Paul is having the best season ever for a point guard and his team sits atop the west. Like the thread a couple weeks ago, I'm sticking with him here too.

Although Kobe is my current choice, KG should be on the list. The Celtics are 50-15 after all.

As much as I don't like his personality, CP3 is hands-down the MVP. Kobe is talented enough but he's a selfish crybaby. He COULD be MVP, but he has to grow up some. Leaving games and constantly getting technicals for arguing/complaining. KG is a legit candidate but take him away from that team and they're still in the playoffs in the East.

I guess only LeBron is CP3's legit competition.
