I like boobs and Hugh Hefner likes boobs, but I'm not having six-somes (hexasomes?) with hot blond teens
Damn it. I hope Chavez doesn't start liking Frosted Flakes, I don't want to be eating the same cereal as him.
The issue of international views puts the GOP in an awkward position. Either you (1) don't give a rat's ass what other leaders and countries think, or (2) since the great majority of foreign groups, from allies to critics, seem to prefer Obama as a breath of fresh air, you take an active f-the-rest-of-planet stance. In this case, the GOP advocates a preference defined intentionally against the will of the rest of the planet? Only the most idiotic of wingnuts want stance #2. So if you default to the more plausible stance, #1, then OOPS, ... why did you start the thread exactly? By the way, I do know that Chavez likes frosted flakes, so Apollo, you are the America-hater we long suspected. He also drives a Ford, so we better burn their plants to the ground. Also, basso, he enjoys the opera. Better change careers, pronto. PS -- can we merge this thread with the dozens of others under the heading "basso thinks Obama is the anti-Christ." I think it would be efficient and logical. Heck, just make it a sticky for him.
Beebster - you simply haven't been paying attention. You're one of the Obama drones who have been duped by his public speaking abilities, but you are unwilling to pay attention to the actual facts surrounding him. For example, the fact that he has routinely pissed off important foreign allies. Threatening to invade Pakistan? Talking of banning all toy imports from China? Do those ring a bell? Probably not since you've got your head buried in the sand. Both created embarrassing gaffes for Obama. Perhaps you prefer Obama's approach to sitting down with the psycho Iranian leader or Chavez's preference for Obama. I guess he's got a couple of strong allies in Iran and Venezuela. Fabulous
bigtexxx, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
The Bush example is to show that any fool can talk tough to scrounge up some macho political points, but in the diplomatic arena, getting things done and getting things right goes beyond any simplification with the likes of sending some high school note with the lines, "Do you like me? circle yes or no"
Truer words have never been spoken...If you guys are supporting and agreeing with Chavez, then something is wrong...Logically, he doesn't want a republican, just like many of you here, as he feels policy will remain status quo, but with Obama or Hillary, he has a chance to be more of an ass than he already is...
I think Apollo, in part, meant that you addressed nothing related to my post. Perhaps I should ask you directly: review my very sane post. Do you choose option #1 or option #2? Thanks. (Referencing only two countries out of a great plurality is not an answer, by the way.) I think option #1 is your only sane option, so you would agree that this thread is meaningless (not that it doesn't have thread company). By the way, have you been drinking this evening?
No I have not been drinking this evening. Have you been drinking anything other than the Obama kool-aid tonight? Beebster, your silly earlier post in which you took the typical self-righteous liberal viewpoint that anybody that disagrees with them are morons was not worthy of my reply. I was responding to your insinuation that other countries preferred Obama.
So you still can't answer the question? You don't even have to type out a sentence, he made it real easy for you with the numbers and everything. Just type a 1 or a 2. You can do that, right? Right?
Hmmm. Not sure where I said anything close to "everyone who disagrees with me is an idiot." I'm not the one with the ad-hom "koolaid" comments. I've not drunk Obama Koolaid. I've kooly evaluated all available data. Oh yeah! Crash bam boom bang. I actually think the GOP has a good candidate and they should talk him up. But we get threads about what some guy in Venezuela thinks. He's an idiot, but like hundreds of other world leaders, he doesn't like Bush. Whatever -- this is like debating the color of the sky. What I don't understand is the position wrt what other countries think. In my view, your stance should be: we do not pander to the likes and dislikes of other countries. But instead, you want to go against Chavez, and also strong feelings in many of our allies. You only need to look at the careers of Bush allies, politically, to see which way the wind blows. Most foreign politicians are logically afraid that McCain will continue most of the failed policies of GWB, even though that's a subjective and (I hope) somewhat naive guess. Or hey, throw out that some allies fear a McCain presidency. Just go with Chavez as the only world leader you care about (weird, but just as an ansatz, let's try it). Why do we care who he likes or doesn't like? Why do we give him *any* pull at all? Just like, why should anyone have cared who Al Qaeda wanted in 2004 (GWB, as reported by Fox in the link above)? I just think there are an increasing number of threads here, reflecting the national tactics, that try to hit Obama via 3rd-order effects, instead of going at his policies or skills. It's always "well, look at his church... or his church 1.8% of the time!" or "well, look what this dude in Venezuela thinks! We don't want to do what he wants!" I understand the death by 1,000 cuts, but it's like you guys are going to try to politically kill someone by plucking each of his arm hairs. Ugly, time consuming, and ultimately ineffective, I would think.
