Is there anyone else that can't stand Bill Walton? Just curious!

I used to not like him until I realized that he doesn't just not like the Rox, he doesn't like anybody.

He has definately changed his announcing though.

I think people didn't/don't like him is because for a long time whenever somebody would make a play, instead of praising the guy who made an awesome play, he would rag on the dude who got beat.

He doesn't bother me anymore, in fact (please forgive me) I kinda like him now. He has changed and still gives Dream props for "abusing" David Robinson in '95.

HOOP T - Would did Walton say there that aggravated you?

    Rocket Freak,

I will forgive you this once. But promise me no more positive comments about Walton?

I just don't like his style of commentary. He is so negative, and often he critiques some of the best players who, even on his best day, are better than he ever was. What all started my Anti-Walton tirade was when he stated on NBC who he though the top three players of all time were. His choices were:

    Wilt
    MJ
    Bill Walton

At first I thought he was joking, but he kept on about his choices and sited reasons he was a top three player. All this with a serious face! I was astounded at the arrogance. Walton was OK, but he was no MJ, no Wilt, ne Hakeem, need I continue?

    Good article.

I personally enjoy listening to Bill Walton. He's by far the best on NBC. Even though I never saw him play in his prime, everyone who I've talked to and did, say that he could have very well been one of the best if not for the injuries (Even though I'm not sure I'd say that about myself).

Anyway, he's a DeadHead, what's not to like?

I used to hate Walton, but then he grew on me. Kind of like Calvin, who really irritated me for a year or two.

Its a given that Bill is always going to start his sentences with "Back in my day...." blah blah. Once I started to overlook his arrogance, I started to like him. Same thing with Calvin and his goofy comments...now he just makes me laugh.

That and Bill always gives props to Hakeem.

He was great in his day though.

I will admit that Bill does praise Olajuwon. I do enjoy hearing that come out of his mouth!

Perhaps I was a bit harsh. But that type of arrogance just rubs me the wrong way. His article on Francis was fine, I was not arguing any points he made there, just saying he annoys me!

He used to annoy me until I realized that he sounds EXACTLY like Bill Murray in the movie CaddyShack.

I don't mind the old Bill Walton. It's the new one that bugs me. Praising players is not part of his natural style and the only reason he's done some kissing up is to 1)make the finals broadcast team, and 2) please his critics. Well, if you ask me, he's a wussy for doing that. I think he should maintain his attitude on the air. Not give in to this "Happy" medium that NBC wants to create. Let him stir it up a little with Bob Coastas. Yes. That's what we need. I hate to see broadcasters wussy out. Just like Jim Gray did after the Pete Rose Interview. He gave a hard nose interview that was a little over the top one day, and then the next day he wussied out and apologized. Please, no more wussy resporting, I want to hear the truth like I do at Clutch city.com. I don't want some watered down version. Bill Walton may not be a good broadcaster, but at least I respected him for being who he was. Now I think of him as a sell-out.

Every time I got sad during the lockout of '98, I thought of Bill Walton opening another box of macaroni and cheese, and I got a warm, sweet feeling in my tummy.

    Houston Rocks,

He does sound exactly like Murray in Caddyshack.

    You gotta pool over there?

Pool and a pond. Pond would be good for you!

Ha Ha, I can just see Bill Walton now holding a rake by the handle with both hands and looking at the fine chicks at the clubhouse of the Golf course. Heh,heh.

What exactly did Bill Walton say that was untrue? His comments were correct.

    Francis 55%
    Brand 27%

Francis has definitely been more valuable to the Rockets than Brand and Odom have been to their respective franchises. Francis is also much more fun to watch and will be a household name perhaps as early as next season.
