The first injury happened on a dirty hit non call on Haynesworth. The last one happened on the same thing. If the refs would call that crap the Traiters pull it wouldnt have happened. Its amazing when that team was in Houston they couldnt get a call with a bag full of $100 bills now they are in a smaller market and get every call. I will never understand it.
Haynesworth got a personal foul called on him on the 2nd hit IIRC. But the hits/injuries would have happened regardless if the refs would have called them or not. I wonder if the Texans are going to look to draft a QB in the late rounds.
http://www.myfoxhouston.com/myfox/p...n=2&locale=EN-US&layoutCode=TSTY&pageId=6.1.1 Free agent quarterback Quinn Gray arrived in Houston Sunday afternoon from Jacksonville, Florida, and said he is ready to sign with the Houston Texans. Gray, who played well against the Texans in a losing effort last season in a backup role for Jacksonville, said everything is in place for a deal to get done. "It's a one-year deal, "Gray said in an interview at Bush Intercontinental Airport with FOX 26 and the Houston Chronicle. "We have an agreement in place. I just have to meet with the coaches and make sure everything is OK." Gray, who has already made visits to Oakland and Green Bay has another trip scheduled for Monday in Buffalo. He has no plans to get on that plane. "I have a trip set up for Buffalo, but I don't plan on leaving here, " Said Gray. "We've already talked on the phone," said Gray. "My agent (Drew Rosenhaus) has everything set up. It's a matter of meeting with (head coach) Gary Kubiak and (offensive coordinator) Mike Shanahan. Gray said he had no issues coming to Houston as the team's third quarterback behind starter Matt Schaub and backup Sage Rosenfels. He also said he already has good friends on the team in receiver Andre Johnson and defensive tackle Anthony Maddox.
I'm interested to see what happens from here. Kubiak has always stated that he only wants to carry 2 QBs on the active roster so he can have an extra roster spot. But this leaves the Texans with three established (to one extent or another) NFL quality QBs. I wonder if Minnesota's been on the phones to the Texans recently? Or maybe Miami. Last I saw they had Beck as their nominal starter and I wouldn't want that if I were them.
It's a no-brainer to trade Sage for a 2nd rounder. The Texans would be stupid not to. He is a journeyman with no upside potential and always will be. That said, Sage was a good backup QB who helped us out. I liked having him on the team and wish him well wherever he goes.
I agree with you 100%. The Texans need to fix that secondary so I really like this deal. Even if we only get a 3rd rounder for Sage I would take it with the quickness. We can get a very good CB or OL in the 3rd round for sure.
They should move Sage. I am still not sold he is even that good. He played well at times but throws way too many interceptions. This team still has many holes and getting that extra 3rd would help them fill them. Gray played great versus the Texans last year and is good fit for this system.
The offer from the Vikes was a 3rd rounder, doubt we'd be able to get a 2nd rounder for him. I think the Texans have a deal in place to trade Sage, there isn't much of a point in picking up veteran backup QB to be your 3rd string when your 2nd string is proven.
Thanks for all your hard work Sage, you did a good job here and wish you the best wherever you end up. The Texans have to many holes to fill to carry 2 quality backups and with the cheap signing of Gray, all the signs point to getting a draft pick, I won't be surprised if it is a 3rd rounder.
Yeah, but that doesn't mean you keep Sage and Gray. There would be no reason to have two backups of that caliber. The 3rd string guy will either be some practice squad guy we already have or some low round draft pick from this year.
I just don't get the eagerness by many to let Sage go for a 3rd rounder. Sage basicaly saved the Texans' ass last year and led them to their first non-losing record EVER. Sure, if Schaub was guaranteed to make it thru 75% of the games next year I can see it, but a relatively small historical sample indicates otherwise. I'm not saying Schaub is fragile, he just has yet to go a full NFL scedule without injuries putting him on the DL. Damnit, I think the Texans have their first legit shot at making and advancing in the playoffs this year and I don't want the season to be determined by a QB back injury. We NEED Sage.
I would completely agree with you if we weren't bringing in Gray. Sage played really well for us but Gray isn't a scrub either, he is a quality backup QB that had an almost identical QB rating as Sage. Getting a 3rd for Sage is great value and in a draft this deep w/o a 2nd and 6th round, we could certainly use another high pick. The Texans could ultimately pickup a starting OT, CB, and a young RB all within the first 3 rounds which all 3 would be big additions to the team.
If it's just 3rd rounder, this makes me wince a little bit, which means it's probably a fair trade. On the other issue, I can't believe the Texans will keep all 3 QBs. It makes as much sense as keeping 3 catchers on a baseball roster.
Dude calm down. The reason Schaub was hurt last year was because of our OL. We need to draft or pickup through free agency 2 quality OL, 2 CB, and maybe a couple of good safeties. We need all the draft picks we can get right now especially if it's as high as a 3rd rounder. I like Sage too but QB is probably our most expendable position this offseason.
A 3rd round pick is still pretty high and would be good value for Sage IMO. A lot of good players have been drafted in the 3rd and the Texans have actually done pretty well in the 3rd round. An extra 3rd rounder this, especially in a draft this deep with RBs, we'd be able to use one on a RB w/o feeling guilty that we didn't use a high pick on a OL or CB.
Trading Sage is a Mistake Then again . . I would have given Sage the position last year and kept my 40 million dollars and 2 2nd rounders [What could the Texans do with that money and draft picks this year??!?!?!?!?] I don't see Schaub as better than Sage . . .. I'm not sold on Schaub and hearing SIMILAR excuses as the ones used to PROTECT Mr. Good Hair . . is not very encouraging Rocket River . . if you do'ed it . . .you'll be sowwy
Schaub started off the season great until AJ went down. His best game after that was when AJ came back. In between, he got injured on some cheap shots. I look forward to seeing him with AJ for a full season.
