That whole game was a freak of nature. I'm not worried about this loss. Shooting 78% at the half. ridiculous Amare shooting 20-20 from the FT line. ridiculous Freaking Shaq was 7-9 from the FT line. most ridiculous thing ever. We had multiple chances to pull within 6pts last night in the 4th Q. ridiculous This was our 5th game in 7 nights. ridiculous All 5 games were against powerhouse playoff teams. ridiculous I'm proud of the Rockets for their fight in this one. The above scenarios won't happen again in my lifetime.
I hear ya, man. Is there a more disgusting back-to-back than facing Golden State one night and Phoenix the next? I don't think it's physically possible to play great basketball and still have your legs while doing so and we managed to fight and hang in there against Phoenix. Winning 1/2 on a back-to-back like that is certainly nothing to be ashamed of.
You shouldn't be too dumbfounded. The Rockets have become a jumpshooting, 3 point jacking team of late (not surprising with Yao out and Landry out 7 games and trying out a variety of journeyman free agent bigmen). The only players that seem to penetrate the paint every now and then seem to be TMAC and Rafer but really they don't quite attack the basket like a Monta Ellis, Tony Parker, Chris Paul, Leandro Barbosa and they sure as hell don't make a high percentage of their FTs. In fact, even if the Rox shot as many FTs as the Suns in this game I'm not sure the outcome would have been different--hell I almost cringe when the Rockets go to the charity stripe lately! You know what's weird? When I hope to see Deke at the line more than TMAC or Rafer because it just seems like he makes much more of this FTs than most of the roster--seems crazy, I'll have to look up that stat later.
The only thing more ridiculous than that is that nba schedule maker who keeps trying to get back at the Rockets for Mario Elie kiss of death shot by scheduling the Rockets to play the Suns in the second game of a back to back. Everytime it's been like this. last year, then this year. Wait there was one time this year the Rockets played the Suns with a days rest in between and guess what, we won!
Their shooting percentage would have been much lower if the Rockets were not called for so many ticky tack fouls. DD
Not to say the refs did a good job, but when u build ur team with standstill players, that's what happens. The rox don't have 2 players that can get in the paint and finish. Tracy when he wants to and landry in a pick and roll. The league is set up for penetrators and finishers. That why pg have become more valuable. All the guy leading the league in ft attempts attack the basket. Although Kobe doesn't attack the rim as much as he used to, he shoots more than anyone on the rox. Even D. Howard doubled the attepts by yao.
Yeah the refs were so inconsistant. Shaq didn't have a single foul in the first half - yeah right! There was definately home cookin' there, but it was especially frustrating because Yao NEVER would get those touch foul calls that Amare and Shaq got. I understand Amare cause he's driving to the basket, but come on - Shaq? He's past his prime and clears people out of the way with his elbows. They did call some stupid fouls on Amare that seemed to be phantom calls, but they may have been makeup calls from the other end. Whatever - I'm proud of the T-Mac and the Rockets for fighting back after this brutal stretch. I thought Adelman may have pulled T-Mac too early though. Let him stay in till the end and give him the green light to go 13in35. Yeah chances are slim to none, but his shot was looking decent yesterday.
Thank you. The whining in here was getting a bit much. The Rockets have been short of effective attackers since....well, since the last time they made it out of the first round.
Our forwards were too soft last night.. I think their arms are still swelling due to the 22 winning streak defensive job.
Agreed. We need to get him and Brooks on the court. Brooks is very well at driving to paint and can usually finish at a high rate. Novak can just flat out shoot. More PT, please! This loss doesn't worry me. It was going to be tough to play with Phoenix after playing GS. The Rockets fought and never gave up. Great effort. I honestly believe if we had a few days rest (like they did, I might add), this would've been a different ball game. Oh, and yes, the calls!! They were freaking ridiculous! I don't even want to start to begin to think about that. Pathetic. I'm proud of the boys. Let's go out and kick some Kings ass. Novak FTW! PS: 2-3 during Hell Week. I can't start threads yet, so what does everyone think?
Reminds me of D-Wade the year the Heat won the title. He steps foot in the paint, automatic foul. Yao gets elbowed in the kidney and he's a p***y. BS. Seems like I remember the Rockets shooting 70 some odd % in a half against the Mavericks in the playoffs a few years back. Anyone remember that?
you know the funny thing about freethrows.....THEY ARE FREE!!! gosh tmac, drive in every time and get to the line....HE WILL GET THAT CALL!
