So whatta ya guys think of the this guy Geno? Ya know...he put the sign outside his Philly Sandwich shop in Philadelphia. He won a case in which the sign does not not violate the city's Fair Practices Ordinance. I, for one, agree 100% with the sign.
Could have been a little less blunt, but he's really just saying what everyone is thinking. I say thumbs up.
well, i only understand english then obviously only take orders in english. if you understand say, spanish, chinese, whatever, why not take orders in those languages.
I voted yes, but he better not go into a Mexican restaurant and try to order in English... I expect him to order in Spanish.
he should put a sign with spanish that says, we don't take orders in spanish... same goes with other languages. if they don't understand english, i doubt they are going to understand that sign.
free speech, if somebody is offended they go to a different sandwich shop who take orders other than english that will show them. $$
When has anyone ever went to a country and it didn't have national (or official) language. Why is so hard to learn English?
This is America... speak the language from England. Sorry, but I do not believe English is American. Our lexicon covers too many languages. While I feel that this sign is directed towards Mexicans and other native people, I do not think that this applies to just those groups. How about foreign tourists? In my eyes, if you can point to the steak, then you can order it. A dollar is worth the same in every language.
cunnlingus rice soudns like a mexican dish. maybe we should send her to mexico so the mexicans will eat her white power
if that's his purpose, then he is a racist, and has no place in this country. i can understand if he have trouble understanding other speakers and can't afford to hire translators and such. but how hard it is to point to an item and give the money? but if he only wants to serve english speakers, that's discrimination.
I concur. He'd be a pretty stupid business man if that were the deal. On the plus side, it does say "please"
I think its a stupid business decision. He effectively loses the business of people who speak mainly Spanish and also those who speak Ebonics.
I think its more implied racism. I can acknowledge that there are probably non-English speaking residents there, but I figure its a true minority. Plus even non-English speakers can at least place an order from what I've witnessed in Texas. No need to be a jackass about it. Plus its his loss. Multilingual means more opportunities to sell to more people instead of just one type.
