I don't know if this fits in, but I'm a big big fan of Ud din Attar and Rumi!

A culture that has been influenced by these two is okay in my book. Actually, better than okay.

    Happy New Year!

Highly emotional, quick to get defensive, hair trigger anger, "what have you done for me lately" attitude, sense of entitlement to everything in the world, ostentatious display of the first four traits when they don't get what they want regardless of how irrational the request is...

    ... no thanks.

I'm full Iranian, but my different cousins are either half-black, half-asian, half-white or half-mexican. None have Iranian mothers.

That said, there are some really cool girls out there, but I've given up trying to find them. Olly Olly Oxen Free!

Happy New Year! I have a special affinity toward the Persian people in general. When growing up, my best friends were all Persian.

During SXSW last week in Austin, one of the more hyped bands was this rock band from Tehran called Hypernova. They have been written about on CNN, NPR, New York Times and The Telegraph, etc... If you like Joy Division, The Strokes or Interpol, you might want to check them out. I really enjoyed their set on the final Saturday of SXSW.

This is an ignorant question. Is there a difference between Persian and Iranian? Are Persians a sub-group among Iranians or vice versa? I know several Iranians that refer to themselves as Persian to avoid racism.

    eidetoon mubarak!

Two days late, now looking forward to siseh bedar.

And yes, Persian girls live in a different world as far as they're concerned. However, if 1/2 persian and half white or hispanic, much more sincere and easy to put up with.

For the most part Iranian and Persian is the same thing (although bit different). I think that most Iranians prefer to call themselves Persian because Persian just sounds better. Iran does have a bad reputatin now a days. Besides some people believe that the term Persian still represents the strong, historic culture of the nation. Before the country was named Iran, it was Persia......

Isn't Iranian derived from the word Aryan? Basically it means that Iranians were the original whites.
