How the hell does Wigginton have 7 errors already in spring training? Man, the Astros would have been much better off keeping Wheeler and re-signing Mike Lamb for the third base starting job. Lamb is a better hitter than Wigginton also. Boneheaded move on the Astros part.

if Patterson can somehow be healthy for the better part of the season, he could be the #2 the Astros so desperately need.

You took my post in the complete wrong direction it was intended. The post was meant to say even brighter things are in the future.

I know he's off the media radar, but I'm starting to get worried about Wigginton at 3B. Hitting .191 in ST and even worse, has commited 7 Errors. Not exactly the confidence-building numbers we were looking for considering we let Lamb go for nothing.

In regular season games last year, with Houston Wigginton had 8 errors in 80 games (205 chances) at 3rd while Lamb had 8 errors in 58 games (125 chances  ). Offensively, their stats were pretty comparable. (BA, SLG, OBP, OPS)

Wheeler's ERA last year was over 5 for both Houston and Tampa Bay.

I wouldn't worry about Wigginton at third. He doesn't have great range or anything, but he's usually pretty sure handed with what he gets to. I'd call it more of a fluke unless it continues into the regular season.

Looks like it is between the Astros and the Rangers.

I sure hope he picks the Astros. Does he still live in Orange?

In the off season he stays in Orange but goes back and forth to DC occasionally. May know more tomorrow, I will try and find something out if I can.

Can we move Tejada to 3B and bring back Everett?

I have a feeling we will be seeing lots of grounders finding their way to the outfield that we were not used to seeing. Even in the limited spring training games I have watched, I have noticed it.

Wish Everett all the best but if that .300+ batting average in Spring Training so far extends into the regular season the Astros will have definitely been fools for letting him go.

I kind of think they already were in some sense...I'm sure gonna miss those sweet plays he made.

if everett could hit 300 he'd be a mvp candidate. hell, if he could hit 275 he'd be an allstar. Unfortunately, he hasn't shown the ability to consistently come close to those numbers.

No doubt...still kind of wish we could have kept him though.

yea me too. i think his defense is something you take for granted until you see what an average (or below average) ss is like.

i heard today that the astros are leading the nl in runs scored and runs allowed this spring. a sign of things to come?

at least it would make for some entertaining games. :D

Yeah now that the rest of the lineup is strong, his hitting wouldn't matter as much. We don't have the "four automatic outs" of Ausmus, Everetty, Pitcher, Bidge anymore.
