Ya'll should know about him. I saw the Arizona Uconn game this weekend and this frosh apparently from Houston was tough. Though the stats sheets underestimated his blocks by a couple, in reality the guy had a triple double with blocks. He was a totally a force defensively. So what is the word with him, did he grow a few inches in the Conn cold, did he just develop more once he got to UConn? He looked awefully good to me, but then again Ken Johnson did the same thing in college as a 6'9" center and now is in the CBA/USBA whatver now. Finally, how the heck did Barnes let the guy go to some small school back east. You would think he would want to go to a bigtime school in a bigtime state with a bigtime BB program
Funny you should mention him....I saw highlight of him on Channel 2 tonight. He had 6 blocked shot in a loss. os
Okafor was the man at Bellaire HS. He might be the best rebounder/shot blocker for a freshman in the nation. The only thing he really lacks is an offensive game with post moves, and a jump shot. I think he might be a lock already to be an NBA player. If he adds anything offensively, he can be a 1st rounder.
I thought you were talking about Uche Okafor, the JuCo transfer for Muzou who was suposed to be pretty good but hasn't played all year. What are the odds that there'd be two guys named Okafor in major D1 basetball?
Okafor dominated my alma mater, Memorial HS, my senior year, his Jr. year. He rang up close to 40 points, 20 boards, and like 9 blocks. I am not joking. I've seen him play at Bellaire about 3-4 times and each time he absolutely dominated. I was skeptical about his chances a big-time program like UConn, but damn he has proven that he is ready.
ya, i saw him play live at BC...he's a solid player and should probably stash away the books next year to go pro
That guy had at least 12 blocks against AZ , They only gave him 9 but Im sure he had a triple Double.
That's the thing... Okafor was a great student in high school, and had an SAT score around 1300. He's not the typical college player who goes to school only to play bball.
