i think we need to get rid of the pick and roll when the other team traps t-mac. granted thats our only working offensive play, but when the going gets tough t-mac gets going. there are times where it seems like t-mac doesnt even want the ball.
Did you see rafer's shooting percentage today, did you see all the layups that scola missed? To say that T mac is the only player that is tired on this team at this time is absurd. They just played two of the best teams in the league in a back to back.
That was an interesting post.... for me to poop on!! No, really, this team reminds me more and more of the chicago bulls. Defense, hustle, and jump shots can only take you so far. They really don't vary their offense enough either, guys have mastered how to defend the pick and roll with tmac at the top of the key because they run it every single time down the court. I don't care how good you are if you run the same play every time down the court then you're gonna get burned. We've been exposed. Our best offense came at the beginning of the season when our lesser players were passing to tmac on the move and he had the option of making a move or find someone. This offense has been so predictable lately that i think me and a couple buddies from college could stop them, pathetic. That falls on Adleman.
Exactly, after we hosted honets and win in houston our O sort of go back to old JVG style. Tmac handle the ball from high post and everyone watch and waiting. Less run and ball movement. Everyone need to review the tape from Tmac come back from injury and how we play in our win streak games (not include last 3 vs hawks, bobcats, celtics) can compare what the defference between our lose streak and win streak. 1. Tmac need run more from screen and do catch and shots. 2. He need work on his FT, jumper. 3. Don't play Tmac too many mins, give him some rest. I can see he try to carry the team too much but it is really not a smart way to play RA's O. 4. Everyone need to practice his jumper. after Yao out, we count on our jumper. 5. RA need do his substution in difference way, give Novak, AB, Head some play time. 6. Rafer really really really need practice his 3, mid-jumper, tear drop. We really need him to play in high level to win the game. review the tape please and play smart.
Well we do need some more playmakers on this team. An injury prone Yao and an injury prone TMAC does not equal success to me.
I really can not choose one from you vote opptions. I think mainly reason is we play back to old JVG's O. Not use Tmac in smart way, so I blame this on RA. Tmac can pass ball really good but when we do old JVG's style O==Tmac get the ball in high post and others watch... when we play in this way, Tmac is really easy to tired and we wast his high percent catch and jumper (do this need Tmac run more from screen). this also means less run and ball movement. So we need to give the ball to Rafer and let him be the point guard. That's why some time our second team have better ball movement and play smarter than Tmac on the court.
When Tmac wants to come out to play, god bless the other team But when Tmac does not want to play.... we are handicapped. It is just as simple as that. This is the sad part but it is the truth. Every night we have to guess when Tmac will want to come out to play. When Tmac plays, he is compared to the likes of Kobe and Lebron. When he is just Mcgrady who does not want to play, he is not even an allstar (and that is why he is not MVP candidate and that is why thank god he did not make the allstar team this year) The question is will tmac come out to play the next game? Who knows, I guess that just depends on his mood now doesn't it!
I choose none of that. He played poor games back to back to back. Its not like hes coming back from injury. I hate Charles Barkley, but i have to agree with what he said, there is a difference between stars and a superstar, Superstar brings it every night and if he has one bad game he bounces back the next. Tmac is just a star and makes excuses. First about the arena, and now that he is tired. Geez come on...u r getting paid millions to lead ur team and ur excuse is ur tired??? When has Kobe said hes tired? When has Jordan? Oh hell when has Mutombo?? Oh ya they are superstars, my bad...tmac is not!!! If rockets dont pass second round this year, for sure Tmac will be traded because this team is not going anywhere with him leading.
Remember how we started winning games when T-Mac was out? The offense learned to work without him, and when he returned, he treaded carefully, finding a way to fit in without disrupting everything. Somewhere along the streak, he played hero in order to win some games, and in general, because of his great talent, the team tends to revert offensively overall by relying on him to create, and then he has trouble without a cohesive team offense in which to fit. In my view, the solution is for him to be an important but non-necessary part of the puzzle. In reality, a talent like him is practically necessary, but from an execution standpoint he must fit within the flow.
he's carried the load for too long and is simply physically tired. we can not overlook this problem. BUT every super stars have stronge faith, believe such as JAMES KING, KOBE, they like a real leader, warrior...they never give up...maybe their teams will lose some games, but they always fight, until the end of game. So we respect them... we hope TMAC can do this, he has special talent. if he has more psychic energy and power, i believe he also can drop 81, maybe 91 in the game, and rockets can win the title in west. and even we can beat opponent in finally games. i hope after short break, he'll screw up his courage to play better in the future. We've ready lose YAO, can not lose our faith again.
I agree but i don't think there's much anyone can do about it now, just cringe when they fall and wish them the best. Its funny people say this is Gundy offense but it is even worse. In that offense tmac knew it was his job to break down the D and kick out to a 3 point shooter, now he wants to just be a small part of the team and since there isn't any movement on offense he just kinda sits there and waits to find someone. Even with that said, im not so worried about tmac performing badly. He just can't get around anyone, ever anymore. Its getting hard to watch because he has all the moves but once he starts going guys like Peja are quicker than him. Its sad, even when he beats his man its a slow guy or a bad defender and even then its just barely. He's not getting lift on layups and when he "sprints" to the basket on their fast breaks he can't even get to the basket before his man, he ends up meeting him at the rim and blowing the layup. It has absolutely nothing to do with being aggressive, these are things he could do in his sleep a couple years back.
I strongly believed he is physically tired maybe mentally as well. That's why when he is off we need a good player to back him up.
Some of you anti-mcgrady posters disgust me. He has been leading the Rockets charge of 22 wins in a row which has captured the NBA's attention and brought us to 1st place in the brutal west, all without Yao. Now, after having been overplayed by Adelman, his game has slipped the past 2 games and you "fans" turn on him like rabid dogs. You don't deserve to have Houston as your home team. Go root for the Spurs or Lakers
Hes definitly tired........but hate to say it.......hes on his way down Good Run Tracy...... He still has some great games left...but not many.....
the thing that irks me most about T-mac, besides his reluctance to drive to the hole, is his propensity to jog down the court on a fast break and wait at the the 3 point line. he's never cutting to the goal. he'll just let the ball handler through and just waits to receive the ball. i think that's a major part of his game he can improve on.
First of all, I don't believe he "led" us to 22 consecutive wins. He played a key role, but everyone stepped up. Btw, the rockets' 22 game streak wasnt done entirely without Yao. Do you really believe tmac "led" us to our last win against the lakers? NBA players are some of the best conditioned people in the world. And they arent playing a game everyday. Even if you want to count his lackluster effort against the Lakers as him giving it everything he had, he still have over a day to recover from playing about 40 min in that game. And none of the past 6 games has been in a back-to-back. So if you want to blame fatigue, go ahead. You can also blame the arena if you'd like. Over the past 3 games (including tonight's), his game hasn't just slipped. Its disappeared. It looks like he doesnt even care if they win. I'm sure the fans wouldnt be nearly as critical if they felt that tmac was giving forth 100%.
