Historically the teams coming off long streaks have been deflated so much that they lose their next 5-6 games. I hope this isn't true of the Rockets but after tonight. All I saw was a team without energy. Without the will to penetrate and dish out. They didn't make the extra pass and they stood around waiting. For what? If there's a dead cat bounce after a streak is broken, this is the worst weak for the Rockets to be doing it since we are playing all Western Conference playoff teams. I hope we can maintain our top tier seeding.
The way the 6-8 seeds are shaping up, I wouldn't mind a 5 seed XD Besides, Rockets have plenty of time to recover after hell "weak"...7 straight games against non-playoff teams? Rockets should be okay. If anything, we should call it the curse of the 1 seed. Everytime a team grabs 1 seed, something bad happens and they inevitably drop...we should thank God Rockets weren't there for that long XD
It's been a roller-coaster ride,We all need to re-group,re-focus,re-charge.Tracy couldn't even run or jump tonight,He had no lift on his jumpers,He's burnt-out right now. We were up 13-14 points in this game,it looked like another blow out but we only have energy for 1 half right now.
This is sick humor, so don't take it seriously: the Rockets go on a twenty-two game losing streak (that can't happen because there aren't that many games left), miss the playoffs, and BrooksBall revives his thread and says, I told you so. I apologize in advance, not funny.
I think Rockets magic number against Denver is like 8...so unless the Nuggets go on a crazy win streak of thier own... But hey, who knows... .......................................
Well, we probably won't since -- in all seriousness, and winning streak aside -- we're much closer to being a middle-of-the-pack team than we are to a "top seed" team. I won't be surprised -- nor disappointed -- if the Rockets slide to a lower seed, where the Mavs and defending champs currently sit. We need time to recover physically and mentally, these guys have been playing all-out for nearly two months, it's just not humanely sustainable. They're not robots and after such winning streaks it's normal to settle back in/come back down to earth. Besides, it's not like we're losing to some scrubs, these are top-notch teams that are -- arguably -- better than us sans Yao. No worries, I am still pretty happy with where we are. Just don't expect first seed, we're not really better than all those teams below us in the Conference right now (with possible exception of the Warriors, because other teams are at full strength while we're not). Let's get Landry back first into shape and playing and then judge this team from there. Have patience, and try to resist the temptation to trade every player on the roster after each loss. Some of you guys should just hang yourselves already and spare us the noise.
'71-'72 Lakers: 33W streak followed by 2-4 in their next 6. '70-'71 Bucks: 20W streak, finished season 1-5. '99-'00 Lakers: 19W streak followed by 1 loss and 11 more straight wins. '81-'82 Celtics: 18 W streak, no back to back losses afterwards going 8-4 to finish season. '95-'96 Bulls: 18W streak, lost 2 in a row then won their next 7. '69-'70 Knicks: 18W steak, went 4-2 in their next 6. So yeah, the '72 Lakers and '71 Bucks had brief letdowns, but there really weren't any lulls for the other longer streaks.
'95-'96 Bulls: 18W streak, lost 2 in a row then won their next 7. STORY OF THE ROCKETS POST-STREAK I hope... tmac is our jordan battier is our pippen and uh...
Look at the remaining schedule of all the playoff teams, except for the Hornets, who play a number of games with the eastern conference teams, the playoff contenders are all playing each other. Even if the Rox lose the next two games (at GS and at Phx), barring a total collapse, they should finish with 52 to 55 wins, which could be anywhere from a 3 seed to a 7 seed. I don't see Denver or Golden State catching the Rox. Success in the playoffs is dependent upon solving their current struggles offensively. A healthy Landry would be a big plus.
Success in the playoffs -- without Yao -- will depend almost entirely on matchups. If we draw the Spurs/Suns/Jazz/healthy Lakers team, we will lose. If we draw Hornets/Warriors/Mavericks/Denver then we might have a real shot at advancing. Either way, I won't be disappointed as long as they play hard and give it their all in the playoffs. I can't really ask for much more right now without our best player/only consistent inside presence.
since we need more depth is it possible to waive francis and get another free agent, or a shooter or something. i know we are at limit with harris and woods. i mean the franchise isnt doing us any good not playing
