Celtics 4.5 games up on #2 Pistons Rockets 4.5 games up on NUMBER 8 Golden State. 6.5 in front of #9 Denver. 29.5 in in front of BrooksBall's prediction. IBTL
Well before this thread is closed I'd like to take my parting shots: Fu ck you Brooksball for giving up on the Rockets. No matter how you try to paint a pretty picture after you threw up on it, you will always be a traitor in my eyes. I know you will say that you care less about my opinion but your inflammatory post only written to stir stuff up left me bewildered and pessimistic about the advancement of human beings. Not only did the Rockets prove you wrong but they demolished your credibility on this board forever. Your flat out dismissal of our chances to even reach the playoffs has now been dragged out and risen like a pinata to be hammered upon by rabid Rocket loyalists in order to feed upon the sweet, sweet candy of proving you wrong. Backtrack as much as you like, zealously state the season is not over with, but you might as well move to Dallas and cheer on their team, cause the majority of people on here dislike you and your premature notion that we were not good enough to compete in the West. Aaron Brooks would even slap you for starting this thread.
Dear Rockets fans, I love this team. I loved this team two months ago when I created this thread and I will love this team tomorrow. To make the playoffs after losing Yao will be an incredible accomplishment. This is the deepest conference in NBA history and the Rockets overcame many doubters, starting with myself, to not only get back into the playoff picture, but make it all the way to the top spot. I apologize for creating this thread. I also apologize for stubbornly refusing to acknowledge my mistake. My intentions were not to upset you. I was upset, myself, because I am also a hardcore fan that saw this team struggling. I just chose to give up while most of you did the opposite. I learned my lesson and promise not to create such a short-sighted, negative thread in the future. I should have kept my doubts to myself. Better yet, I should have never had doubts in the first place. This team has made too many strides in recent years to have given up on them so quickly. For those of you that are superstitious and believe this thread had anything to do with this streak or, conversely, that my acknowledgement of being wrong had anything to do with the end of the streak... forget about it. The Houston Rockets' players and coaches were the real force behind this amazing run. As fans, our emotions are merely subject to their accomplishments and failures, and everything in between. I'm just another fan that wants this team to be good, win games and eventually, win another championship. The best kind of fan is the one that never gives up, even when the team is facing its darkest moment. I gave up when things weren't even that bad so I am clearly not the best kind of fan. For those of you that have never given up, you are the role models for the rest of us. Sincerely, A Rockets fan who is learning to be a better Rockets fan
Hey brooksball I am not being facetious but rather superstitious and I would like you to start a new thread something like "Will the Rockets hold on to first place? NoWay!" Or maybe will the Rockets get out of the 1st round? No Way If someone could reply to this so brooks can see it cause he has me blocked. Thanks
I don't care for pessimistic opinions, but that's my opinion. The unique factor here issue was the way you expressed your opinon, the arrogance... Regardless, you're a Rockets fan and didn't kill anyone's dog... If your post was half sincere ... good enough for me... as if that matters. Probably a good time to finally put this thread to rest. It was a small but interesting part of this memorable streak.
Go create your own superstition-based thread, Old Man. I don't believe in that. I may have been wrong to create this thread, and even more wrong to arrogantly refuse to own up to my mistake, but I never talked to other members of this forum the way you did. I saw another post of your's recently where you told someone you wanted to "punch them in the face" simply because you disagreed with their opinion. That is 10 times more inappropriate and offensive than anything I did. My mistake was giving up on this team not threatening other members of this forum. I am going to view your response to this because I am actually interested for the first time in a while to see what you have to say. Your turn.
BrooksBall, I think you are a fan of the Rockets, you just stated what you felt about the Rockets' season at that particular time, and I believe many others felt similarly when Yao went down. Being realistic doesn't diminish one as a fan of the Rockets, but the tone of your thread is very negative, which is why people got so mad at you.
Bibby was still a King at the time of that comment. But, you are right that I acted like I know more than I actually do.
Yeah I know. Don't take it personal. I just thought your thread was a little fun and brought some reversed luck. Karma is a funny thing and maybe another extreme prediction might help. But don't put the thread up if you don't want. As for what I said in that other post. Let me just say I knew Eddie and found him to be a quiet kind person with perhaps a troubled soul. Yes he made many mistakes as have many of us but calling him a punk and comparing him to Hitler was totally inappropriate. I overreacted and was called on it. I have no problem with you and thought your thread was amusing and thought you were mostly a good sport for the ridicule you took in your stance against the Rockets however incorrect. Peace Bro Goodbye to this thread and the 22 game winning streak.
Yeah? We all make a lot of mistakes. None of yours here were serious... we move on... But of course there's a bunch of guys here so expect to catch some grief over this for eternity. And fwiw, you were very right about LA; you saw them coming.
Wow, this thread has been around for eons, just getting my little tibbit in before the eventual lock.
