Yao always respects Calvin Murphy. He might be the only one who can get Yao onto his radio show.

Do you cook all the food in Yao restaurant? And what the best Kung Po sauce?

    Great questions! :D

I thought you said at 6

Do they have podcasts or do they prefer to do things on the cheap?

Coulda swore Calvin said 6 as well. :(

Ok but here's a quick recap:

-Talked about the Yao roast thats coming up.

-Asked Yao when was the turn around. Was it when the we got out of the half, being down by 20 against Boston? Yao said no, and said the turning point was the philly game. He remembers that game vividly and hated how we were lost TWICE to those clowns.

-Said that Battier and Deke are the more vocal leaders.

-Then they asked stupid idiotic questions about who makes the food. In his restaurant. Great. Way to mess up a good interview.

I'm sure I missed some points, but there should be a podcast.

Who's the guy that cohosts with Calvin? That guy is annoying. Whenever Calvin says something absolutely ridiculous -- "Pistol Pete might have been better than Jordan", "Scola will get minutes at SG in the NBA", "Aaron Brooks will be the difference maker in the playoffs" (said just a week ago) -- he's just like, "Wow, really? That's interesting."

OK, so I kept listening to the show, and they've been talking about Yao for the past half hour or so.

I have one question: who the fudge is this "Dave"? He not only has the gal to debate whether or not the Rockets are "better without Yao," but he even goes a step further and says he would rather have Shaq now over Yao!!! Are you freakin' kidding me? I honestly had no idea it was still up for debate anymore.

I hate idiots who try to be controversial for the sake of being controversial...

I can't stand listening to Calvin's show. He should go back to TV where Bill Worrell could temper his idiotic outbursts. On the radio he spazzes out with no one to hold him back.

IF you listen to what his point was, it was this. he would rather have shaq this year only. not the future. i agree with him on the fact that yao is still too soft, but he was certainly making strides. as bill walton says "THROW IT DOWN BIG MAN!"

dream didn't dunk it on every possession, and yao was getting much much better at it before he went down.

Yeah, don't get me wrong, I love Calvin....but MAN, is that guy freaking annoying on the radio. He just says outrageous after outrageous thing, and then if somebody disagrees, he just yells over them until they stop talking. Sounds kinda familiar?

I did listen to him, and yes he did qualify it, but even then it's not up for discussion as to which player is better this year, only a true idiot or a disingenous individual would make the case for Shaq. There is no case to be made, Yao is better and superior to him this year in every aspect of the game, and the stats more than back that up: offense, defense, free throws...you name it.

The only way you would favor Shaq is if you compare him to a Yao on the IL. Even then, I would rather have Deke's lock-down interior defense/presence over Shaq's lack thereof, but at least it would be up for debate.

Agreed. All I hear is screaming most of the time. Bill was a good counterbalance to Murphy.

The thing is the Big Cactus always takes half the season or so off so its hard to tell. So comparing stats doesnt really work. I think Shaq still has a very strong presence inside the paint.

So did they reconfirm about this Roast and Toast charity show on April 17 with Yao Ming?

I heard that Hakeem Olajuwon talked to Yao Ming sometimes in February about he participated in a Legend's Charity Game then that benefitted the Leader's Academy Charter School that is affiliated with Windsor Village United Methodist Church. Calvin Murphy works there as the Physical Education Instructor. The Dream told Yao that the Charter School still needs help.

Yao met Calvin Murphy afterwards and voluntarily mentioned to him that if the Charter School still needed money that he would be more than happy to do anything for him. And Calvin Murphy suggested a "Roast & Toast" engagement. Yao agreed.

And that was prior to Yao Ming's injury.

So is the Arpil 17 Roast and Toast charity show still on?

Shaq's best these days is a double-double (10-15 points, 10-13 rebounds), which is good enough for the Suns and all anyone should expect from him at this point of his career. But that still is a far cry from being "best Center in the league" material, especially when you have Yao Ming, Dwight Howard and even Chris Bosh doing what they're doing.

Shaq isn't even on my "top 3" list...

I love it. I'll take him over Clyde anytime.
