I don't think any Rockets have a shot at Sixth Man of the Year. (Although if they had a bench of the year they would.)

Coach of the Year - Rick Adelman

Scola has a shot at ROY, and Battier deserves DPOY, but Rick deserves it most.

Luis Scola for ROY, I think Al Hortford is his only competition. If the Rockets finish with the number one seed then RA probably wins Coach of the Year.

None of those would surprise me, but if we keep on winning, I don't know how you can NOT give COY to Rick. He wasn't even in coaching a year ago.

    Scola- ROTY
    Battier- Defensive player
Rafer- MIP- might be too old tho
    Adelman- COTY

Those are the only ones worth mentioning, sorry guys but TMac is too inconsistent to be a worthy MVP candidate

    Simply every award:

Coach of the Year - no doubt it is Adelman. To bounce back from 10th place and take a lead in the Wild West and win 22 (as for now) straight games is something unbelivable

Rookie Of The Year - Well there is Durant, but Durant has to put up 19 ppg cause he's a leader but he is a leader of one of the worst teams in the leauge. Scola is really impressive

Defensive Player Of the Year - he is slowing down every player. He is doing an excellent job guarding best people on the court. I don't think there is any better right now.

MVP - McGrady has been phenomenal. He has picked up his scoring too but first of all he is a great leader on the court. No doubt he is a top5, even 4 in this category

    MIP - Rafer Alston - why? (8/11 3s against LA) :D

    6th man - not here

I think Adelman will win COY, though Mo Cheeks and Byron Scott have a pretty good case. It depends on how the Rockets finish.

For the rest, I don't see the Rockets winning any of them.

What would not surprise me is that the Rockets win the West and neither Adelman nor TMac win their awards. It would be ridiculous, but it could very well happen.

The only offensive category that Alston has shown real improvement in from last year is FG% and that is up from .375 to .406. FT% is down significantly and 3 Pt FG% is also down. Assists are up a bit and scoring is down a bit. Since he is averaging a couple of less minutes per game, those number are somewhat better on a per minute basis.

Rebounds and turnovers are identical to last year. Steals are down a bit. I don't see how he is even in the mix for MIP.

I think the voting body for COY would get laughed at if Rockets won West and Adelman doesn't get COY.

If you listen to the National Media, they keep saying how much better talent the other great streak teams had. If you don't think the players are the most talented, but end up being the best team in the best conference ever, the coach is the reason.

Executive of the Year has to go to the Celtics GM. He added Garnett and Allen. Morey will be in top three, but no where close.

Come to think of it, who is the favorite to win the Most Improved player award? Probably someone in his second or third year...Which is dumb, rookies and sophomores are expected to improve. They need to change it so only a player who has spent 3 or 4+ years in the league can get the award.

To answer the question - Adelman is the most likely, followed by Morey and Scola. I find it hilarious that all of a sudden people are like "wow, Shane Battier is pretty good defensively". If this picks up some steam he may have a chance, although probably some weak side shot blocker, who has no idea what actual man-to-man post defense is, will get it.

All of those on-court achievements are great, but we'd be nowhere near where we are now without Darryl Morey. Over the summer, he stole Scola from the Spurs for barely anything (Spanoulis and a second round pick) and got Carl Landry from Seattle for a second round pick. That's two second round picks for two of the top 5 rookies this year. Along with that we signed Mike Harris, got an additional 3-point threat in Bobby Jackson (although he's fairly inconsistent), and got rid of Mike James. This man really knows how to build a team and find potential, and that's evident in the team he's built this year. Morey for Executive of the Year!

honestly, we won't get any award. Even if we won the championship, they will say we are not legit until we can win it again the next year.

You're right, its not just us though, everyone thinks its a fluke when a team does really well over any stretch without adding a superstar (let alone subtracting one) or being young. People didn't think we had a chance to improve because we are a team of mostly veterans or players who are up there in age already.

I always knew we would be great eventually because our defense was too good, we just needed an offensive minded coach to come in and make it work.

if your holding teams to 85 alot of nights, you only have to score 86 to win and thats what we do. Before we were holding teams to low scores but we couldn't score on the other side.

I voted Exec of the Year - Morey... although I'm thinking this will go to Ainge... with the way Boston has performed this year it's really hard not to give them both ExecOY and COY awards... but Morey and Adelman are just as deserving!!

I voted for Rick as he is a mortal lock for obvious reasons. But a very strong argument could be made for Morey....though it's more competitive.

Scola has been great but the NBA won't pass up the chance to prop up the future with Durant.

Rafer has been the bane of my existence the last few years, but I'm proud to eat crow as he has found Rick and his system. It also seems he has learned what being a true pro is all about as he's put in the time to become both a better finisher and shooter.Again much of what he gets is in the flow of the offense though ala Rick...just like he plays better when pushed.I see him in the top 5 for most improved.

Shane Battier deserves DPOY and I don't see how they can't give it to him along with first team all defense honors.Yes,it would usually go to a shot blocker,or MJ :) but our streak and likely finishing position transcends all that...Sorry Marcus.

MVP...No he hasn't done it all year, but if the Rockets finish 1 in the West like I believe we will,it's going to be a tossup. LBJ,Kobe and KG are all deserving to a degree.I believe we will see the Cavs make a HUGE push from here on in which would favor the young prince.(He does play in the East though)King kobe has been the favorite for most of the year and rightly so IMO,but it's sometimes a matter of what have you done for me lately.KG will get SERIOUS consideration from the East coast media. In fact I could see he and LeBron splitting votes. It's a tough call, and like I said if we finish 1 Tracy's in there.
I see the closest vote between 4 guys ever this year.

Alright I'll jump over the fence.....KG has big name talent over there,LBJ like I said must make a monster push,Kobe's hopes are fading,so..........When we finish 1 in the West it has to be Tracy.......less talent to work with, better conference, and making history.....So there!!!
