some guy answered it Unfortunately it's legal under NFHS rules. Rule 10-3-7d applies only to obstructing the view of a player without the ball. Check out Case 10.3.7 Situation A, which discusses your question exactly. Eye guarding a player with the ball is also legal in the NBA. Again, technical foul if the player does not have the ball (Rule 12, Section V-m). Maybe you're thinking about the NCAA - Rule 10, Section 7. Direct Technical Fouls for Unsporting Player Conduct Unsporting acts of players include, but are not limited to, the following: Art. 3. Purposely obstructing an opponentÂ’s vision by waving or placing hand(s) near his or her eyes. It's in the NCAA rulebook, which you can download from http://www.ncaa.org
So, do we force Rosen to eat crow as well. I assume someone from here will send him the proper links.
LOL, Rosen the Rockets hater resorting to making up lies because he can't find anything else to nitpick about our win streak! CLASSIC!
It is absolutely legal. Nowhere in the rulebook does it say this form of defense is illegal. Rosen is a tool.
I also heard moving your feet on defense was illegal. Oh and you can't get low in your defensive stance either.
When he says face guarding, he isn't talking about putting your hand in the defender's face. He's talking about the defender disregards the position of the ball/ballhandler, and turns to face the player he is defending (who does not have the ball). Basically if you are guarding Kobe, who doesn't have the ball, and your back is to the ballhandler. That's what face guarding is.
does anyone have a picture of shane contesting kobe's jumper today with a hand in the face? it was great defense
No, he's talking about the fact that Battier runs his hand up through the vision of the shooter on the jump shot. It's a fine art and Battier has it perfected. Rosen thinks it's illegal because Battier isn't going for the ball. Rosen is wrong.
First of all, he said face-guarding every jumper. So he's not talking about what you are talking about. Second. What you said is totally legal. Basketball is not football. You can face where ever the heck you want to.
and add some kicks in. i think it'd be pretty wth to be covering an opposing player's eyes when he doesn't have the ball...
When I read it again, you are right. And you guys are right, that is r****ded... But when a coach says face guard someone, on any team I've been on, that meant face up and turn your back to the ball. I don't know what Rosen is talking about.
