I heard that they are trying to change their image to appeal to a more adult crowd. We were there over Christmas break with a bunch of friends because my best friend came to town from West Virginia. Office Space was like our favorite movie and we were quite disappointed to see no flair. They've changed a lot of their menu as well. Whatever works, I guess!
You guys may have seen that Maxim rated them the best of the fern, neighborhood bar and grills. What about the Dr. Seuss hats? Flair rules.
Did you know they filmed that scene from Office Space at the Alligator Grill on Lamar here in Austin?
Yep. And the opening scene is done in front of the IBM campus and the Pickle Research center off Braker/Burnet. Also, they show the 360 area on the highway as well.
TGIF has the worst food in the world. I have had nothing but crap when I eat there, and the service is horrible (austin & dallas) several times.
That's one hell of a commute that guy has since part of the opening (just some of the random highway shots) is also on LBJ in Dallas. I like Friday's okay, but sometimes the service is bad (seems the servie is slower when the restaurant is slower, too). The new set-up of the restaurants doesn't bother me, butI will miss the flair and the crazy crap on the walls. I guess I've gotta go to Chilis for that now (for the crazy crap on the walls, at least). I never went to Friday's in Amarillo when I lived there. They're located in a hotel lobby. It always seemed to weird for me to go to hotel to get a meal in my own town.
"The pleasure's all on this side of the table." "This Friday is...Hawaiian Shirt Day. Sooo......if you want to.....wear a Hawaiian Shirt." "I tell ya, I celebrate his entire catalogue. For my money it doesn't get any better than when he sings 'When a Man Loves a Woman'." "I'm gonna have to kind've go ahead and...disagree with you there. Yeaaahh...."
"Has anyone ever said, Sounds like you have a case of the Mondays?" "No, SH*T no man, I beleive you can get your ass kicked for saying something like that!"
I'm not big on posting links, and I'm not sure I could find it if I could, but The Onion has a classic editorial entitled: Welcome to TGI Fridays! May I Annoy the Living Sh*t Out Of You? The article's great. Pretty much sums up the experience.
Gascon, For pure annoyance, go to Johny Rockets. The waitress poured the ketchup. About 4 different people came over asking if we needed anything. We couldn't hold a conversation. We then started talking about how we couldn't hold a conversation because we kept being interrpupted. They must have thought we were being sarcastic or they just love tormenting people because that caused them to up the "customer service".
