We lost! The shot clock ran faster for the Rockets than for any other team! Matt just touched the ball, and 2 seconds had pasted? Ridiculous!!! KT got fouled back to back on one play and did not get a call? Ridiculous!!! The Dream got pushed on a defensive play and got called for a defensive foul? Ridiculous!!! Defense ... why was Anderson sitting on the bench during a close game where virtually no Rocket was playing defense properly? Wesley and Coleman (sp?) were everywhere they wanted to be ... open shots, lay-ups, screens, pick-n-roll, ...... KT was impressive on the offensive end, but on the D end, well, NO! And why was Matt Bullard on the court in the end of the game defending? Walt Williams was bad enough as a defensive player, but I'd rather have him on the court in the end of games. Enough complaints ... tough loss. [This message has been edited by Rocketability (edited February 22, 2000).]
Yep, same gripes from me here: 1) Officiating was terrible. 2) What the hell was Anderson doing on the bench, and Matt Bullard on the court?
I agree! But then again the Rockets shot themselves in the foot! I mean how many 3's did they try to take during the last 6 minutes of the game! They should have just went for 2's and work their way in the game. And Bullard! Please, Shandon should have been in the game! Bullard is not the guy you want on the court! But there are times that Mobley really gets to me! And tonight was one of em! I think it was like the last 2 minutes of the game, he dribbles the ball and then tries for the basket and mighty Eldon Campbell comes out and block it! Doesn't this guy know how to pass! He has abundant of talent but we ain't gonna win no games if he is gonna be playing just a me game!
I hear you Tx,what's with the stupid 3's at the end ? Rocket's were down by 4 with like 1 min 30 sec to go and Mobley(?) put's up a rushed 3 and from there hornet's put us away with 5 straight point's.If we work the ball and get 2 game was our's.Total momentum killer
I also agree about Bull in instead of Shandon. Hakeem, Thomas, Anderson, Mobes and Francis has been our ending five before, and I like it. (Except maybe sub Cato in for Hakeem) We got some tough calls, especially that awful shot clock going way too early. If they had gotten that right, there's three points at a crucial moment. And I swear, as well as KT plays, once he gets even an ounce of respect from officials, he will be sweet. Does anyone notice how many rookie calls he gets? It's amazing. Like the every ref out there is calling it as tough as possible for him. Invisible fouls on defense, non-calls on offense (how about that horrendous non-call on the final play?), and even loose ball fouls. And I think that KT played quite well. He can really defend with his foot speed- neither Mason nor Coleman could get around him to the hole. But they could shoot over him easy. The only guy that's going to stop that in a straight up one-on-one is Cato. I'm glad the guys didn't give up. When they hustle, I love watching this team! Hopefully this will be another one of those 'learning from mistakes in the 4th' that will enable more future victories.
YEAH! Gotta give credit to KT, who got 20 points and 8 boards despite all the unfair calls from the so-called officials. He's really becoming one of my favorite PF's. Go Kenny!!!
that made no sense that shandon sat the entire 4th. was he hurt ? i know matt has a better 3 point shot, but other then that, shandon brings alot more to the table. I haveto question rudy's decision there ? did he want to make sure that matt got his minutes ? If that's the case, matt could have played a little in the 1st half. I haveto think that shandon was a bit miffed at that. ------------------ "Don't they get cable in Canada ?" Keith olbermann, after watching hakeem block terry catledge's shot 5 times.
I didn't like to see Bullard out there so much either, mainly because he hadn't been hitting anything the whole night, but I don't think Anderson would've helped much. Eddie Jones wasn't doing anything anyway, and the Hornets play Mason at the small forward, so I'm not sure who ya'll wanted Shandon to come in and guard. I've also noticed that there's such blind resentment towards Mobley, that nobody realized that it was Francis' poor shot selection in the closing minutes that did the team in more than anything. Also, Coleman was just hitting everything, it wasn't KT's fault. That was his high game of the year, and you know he's gone up against worse defenders than KT. He kept throwing up so much crap that kept going in....like the Clutch writeup said, the fat man was just feeling it.
Also, How do like David "hands on" Wesley? In the last 3 minutes, he a) pushes off hakeem on a drive to the lane and Hakeem got the foul b) hooked his elbow around Francis and Francis go whistled for it, sending Wesley to the line. His hands seem to be all over his defenders.
I was about to say the same thing Freak. Whenever Shandon is sitting, it's usually due to an unfavorable matchup. Shandon's hellacious, but he's got his limitations. The feeling must have been Mason could power his way to the hole against Shandon more often than Shandon could slash to the hole against Mason. I think Shandon could hold his own in the rebounding department though. He's tough.
