I wish these type threads came out earlier when Rox was in troubles. Real Rox fan is the type who supports Rox when they are struggling for the playoff. Anyway, enjoy the 22-0!
This team may not win a championship, but they have won this city's heart. This is remniscent of the Astros run in '05. While they didn't deliver the trophy, the did deliver a feeling of pride.
I think if you knew anything about the people on this board, you would know that Nolen has always been supportive of this team. HE has just been so moved, as many of us have, by what this team has accomplished and how it has taken care of it's business each and every night that he felt the need to wax poetic....kudos to him. Ive said now for the last few games that I have never been as proud of a team as I am of this one. NO matter what else happens this year, they have shown me what they are made of....and I LOVE IT.
This year's Rockets is a championship contender. Just like a typical championship team, we got two super stars and many solid contributors. Most importantly we got unselfish guys that are willing to do whatever it takes to win. It's a shame that Yao went down, otherwise I don't see any team out there that can beat the Rockets in the playoff.
This is a great post and a great thread. Just go over to lakersground.net and see what we don't want to be. I am thrilled and proud of what the Rockets have accomplished. But I am as thrilled and proud of the way they have accomplished it. Stay classy, Rockets and posters.
didnt read the post to long....but **** that...LETS win a series!!!! Rockets Prepare for Glory!!! "TONIGHT WE DINE IN HELL!"
Great post. And no matter what happens the rest of the season, we'll always have the history-making streak. I love these guys -- all of them.
This is a great point! Yao is exactly the opposite of the kind of star who would pout and doubt himself when his team succeeds without him. And I agree his comrades on the team are winning games for him, not in spite of him. In my minds eye, if Yao was on the bench in a suit (isn't there yet, but he will be) I see Tracy pointing to him after he makes a basket, as if it was an assist from Yao, as if saying "that one's for you, big man." Yao will always give his best, but you know this has to motivate him like never before. Camaraderie, trust, sharing, hard work, never giving up... this is what he's all about. He'll be motivated not just by the fact that his addition to this team makes them championship contenders- more than that, he is dying to be a part of the spirit of this team. On a side note, keep in mind that the Adleman Sacramento teams kept rolling like gangbusters when Webber or Peja went out for long stretches (and they did, often, for long periods of time.) His system helps this to happen. 2nd side note- how much are Yao's teammates missing him right now? Can you imagine what a breath of fresh air it would be if, in these last few games where they've had long stretches of offensive futility, to have the big guy coming in and getting high percentage shots from the low post?
excellent points everyone i am looking at these guys and am just soo proud I just cant wait to see them play again in person. I dont know if the streak will still be intact by the time I do (if it was it would be the 33rd game I would be at!), but either way it gives me hope and excitement about the team. I look forward to watching them compete every night this game typified what the team was all about with and without yao. Tracy is having a poor night, they get it down with defense and Rafer steps it up for the team. The team is up big and have the game sealed and yet scola and rafer trap farmar perfectly at the top that led to a turnover. It doesnt matter how big a lead, what time of the game it is they never let the foot off the pedal for their defense. They know what got them where they are today and they wont let go of it. how great (but highly unlikely actually probably not at all) would it be if they kept yao on the playoff roster and he was able to actually play like 10 mins a game or something. I can hear the collective league say yell .... "Oh F***!" if the big guy can stay healthy the team has a great core of players who know what their role is on the team and most importantly cherish playing that role knowing that their part is just as vital to every victory even if their names are not in the headlines. those are the type of players that lead teams not to a championship, but multiple championships
The fact that the Rockets care, about winning, about each other, about the team. I mean, as a fan winning always feels great, but this team makes you care as much as they do, and that doesn't happen often. Wexler talked about it on 610 last week, when time outs are called, usually a team walks over lackadaisically and awaits coaching. The Rockets go and pump each other up physically and emotionally every time. The backups cheer on the other players at their position and mean it. This is pure and I intend to enjoy it for as long as they can keep playing.
If the Rockets disappoint me from this point forward ...AT LEAST THEY SHUT UP ALL THE DAMN LAKER FANS THAT SHOWED UP AT TC. If you've ever attended a Rockets/Lakers game in Houston, you know what I mean. Laker fans are worse than Dallas fans! GO ROCKETS ...continue the streak. But if you don't, I will always love you for taking us to 22 and smacking down the freaking Lakers! This was a sweet win and I'm having a hard time imagining a sweeter win than this ...although one more comes to mind.
Enjoy.. Amazing happens, and i will always remember this This is teamwork, the spirit. I dunno why, i learn things. I become too emotional
